So, just what is it all about?
Coaching is a really effective method for improving yourself, if only you know how.If you or your partner want to do more with your precious time than you do at the moment, then you simply must check this out. You know that if you just sit around waiting for something to happen, it won't and you are simply missing out.
So, if you boil it down to the very basics, what is life coach training? Well, it is all about improving the way you do things by getting coaching. What kinds of coaching? The sjy is the limit. Think of something you want to improve. Got something? you can get a coach to help you to improve it. You can improve by:
* looking at the way you do something, and devising ways to do it better - remember, virtually everyone who achieves success in their field does so with the aid of at least one coach or mentor. Just because they left school already does not mean that Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Joe Montana did not continue with coaching for the duration of their professional careers - they did!
* making a video or audio recording of yourself doing something, and getting feedback from your trainer - an often overlooked method of getting coaching feedback, this process crucially enables you to see and hear exactly what your trainer is talking about when they give you feedback.
* trying new techniques - a lot of the time we are aware of other ways to do things, but just don't try them out. We get stuck doing what feels comfortable for ourselves, even if the result is failure. So having a coach to push us and motivate us to try new things means that we quickly get experience of what we otherwise would not even try.
How do you get coaching? I mean it must be hard to come by, right? Well, no.
It can be delivered by:
* face to face client / trainer discussion and tasks - one on one training where the coach can concentrate on the individual's technique and method.
* seminar - one to many live training where the facilitator can provide a group experience and focus on using interaction exercises to develop and expand on the theoretical training given in other methods.
* telephone - one on one training that focuses on your specific situation.
* teleconference - one to many training where the trainer can communicate general theory and principles of coaching and guide the group in a general direction, answering specific individual questions that it benefits the whole group to hear.
* email - a method where the written transcript can be reviewed later by the client as many times as is necessary to understand and implement the ideas and techniques.
* online chat / messenger - in this method the trainer can focus on the client's individual needs and also provide a useful written transcript that can be reviewed later as many times as is necessary.
* interactive forum - these are often used by trainers as a follow-up to the main training techniques, allowing everyone to ask questions of the trainer and each other, and allowing everyone to benefit from the shared knowledge and support.
* webinar - one to many live online training where individuals can participate and ask questions that others can listen to and benefit from. Sometimes less potent than attending a live seminar, webinars are easy to record and distribute afterwards so that participants can review the training.
So who is this coaching stuff for? Surely I couldn't benefit from it? You'd be missing out if you thought that. Coaching is for:
* anyone who wants it - nobody 'needs' it, but who doesn't want to improve something in their life?
* people wanting to improve - especially if you are frustrated with your lack of progress so far.
* people disatisfied with an aspect of their current skills - because you know when you could be doing better.
* those wanting to be more useful in society - feeling like you belong and contribute to your community in a meaningful way is one of the secret cornerstones of a happy life.
* people who want to help others - because helping others to reach their goals is empowering for everyone involved!
So I get it so far. But can it really get me results? Yes.
Coaching can:
* help you to have a happy and fulfilled life
* assist you in overcoming an issue
* make you more aware of yourself
* give you a better picture of your current strengths and areas for improvement
* provide you with methods to improve your current skill levels
