Live your life like you order your pizzas

"Yes, Hello. Send me whatever you have."

So you've called up the pizza delivery place to order some pizzas to feed a hungry mob of out-of-town in-laws.

You figure, pizza's a no-brainer. You just tell the kid on the other end of the line to figure out what to make, how much and send it on over.

When the pizza pies get to you, there are two medium pizzas with cheese, anchovy, artichoke hearts, and chicken livers. (You have 13 guests...6 adults, 3 teenagers, 1 5th grader, 2 kindergarteners, and a slobbering Rottweiler.)

Yumm! Uh, oh, don't think that's gonna work? I don't either. I don't even think the dog is going to like it.

Hi, my name is Karen. I am a mentor, a friend, a teacher and a professional Network Marketer.
I am sharing with you some wisdom I learned in the "School of Hard Knocks" in this industry.
I do not want to see anyone else making costly mistakes and becoming disappointed because they haven't been taught the skills they need to succeed.
Read on and Enjoy!

What Are Your Goals For Your Life?

Would you like some ranch and hot peppers with that, ma'am?

Honestly, now, neither you nor I would order a pizza like this!
Of course, the proper pizza ordering protocol dictates that we specify quantity, size, and, of course, toppings.

With a group as big as the one we would be feeding, this will take some planning.
We must interview each person to find out dietary restrictions and preferences.
Then figure how many pepperoni pizzas the teenageres will be eating, etc, etc.

We need to get a good idea of what kind of condiments everyone wants and figure how many.
Ranch? Chipotle? Red Peppers? Parmesean Cheese?

Once we have our list prepared, we can telephone the pizza pub and place our order, knowing the pizzas delivered will be enough to feed everyone and everyone will get their favorite.
Imagine, the Rottweiler just might get some!

Now let's think about this a minute.

If we put so much care and consideration into ordering a pizza, shouldn't we put as much care and consideration into planning our goals for our life?

As adults, our life goals need to be expanded beyond the "What do you want to be when you grow up?" goal we set when we were 9 years old.

Most of us want a variety of things in life.
We will often make lists of our goals.
But those often go to the wayside much like New Years Resolutions.

The important part of setting life goals is in making the plan!

You need to do this just like you had to plan out the pizza dinner for your guests!

What About Your Business Plan?

Don't forget the napkins!

Speaking for myself, I have recently placed "My Wealth" towards the top of my Life's Goals List.

I discovered that by focusing on building my personal wealth, I will be able to achieve my other dreams for a Home, a Career, a Vehicle, my Family's needs, my Leisure Time and my Philanthropic Interests.

I have chosen to create a home-based business to help me build a sound Financial Future.
I work almost entirely with the internet, email and the telephone.

My business is merely a vehicle, a way to get to where I want to be.

A while ago, I realised that if I were serious about reaching my financial goals, I had to get serious about my business.

I needed to create a business plan.

It started with my "Why".
Then, I got specific about my goals.
I ended up by creating a detailed plan on how to get to each step of my journey to success.

Those of us who get involved in building a home-based business, particularly network marketing, often get started by being told,
"Anybody can do this, just pick up the phone and call your friends and family."

Most of us soon learn that this is not the case, become discouraged, and quit.

Are you feeling discouraged and searching for a solution to your success?
Don't have clear goals or a defined marketing plan?

Would you like to do something about it?

A Rocket Ship To the Moon

It's Constantly Adjusting

type=textThis is a quote from Jeff Olson who authored the Slight Edge.

I was reading a blog article on the Slight Edge Community site by Leslie Hocker, Do You Have Too Many goals? In the post, Leslie points out that Anyone can set a goal, but achieving the goal is the true purpose of goal setting.

All too often, we are all gung-ho for setting goals in January and then most of us have no clear plan on how to monitor if those goals are being met or if they are still valid. Then, some people are left at the year's end feeling like failures.

Following is an exerpt from Leslie's article on how to check in with yourself to monitor your progress.

"In the quarter before each new year, you need to set specific, realistic annual goals. At the half year mark it's important to review those goals and adjust. An analogy that Jeff Olson likes to use is the 'rocket ship to the moon is constantly adjusting.' It's okay for you to adjust too!

"Make sure your goals are always directed from your vision and dreams. Most people confuse dreams and goals as being one and the same. Begin by asking yourself, "What specific goals can I achieve this year (or the remainder of the year) that will move me closer to my vision and dreams?" "

A good way to remind yourself to re-evaluate those goals and your business plan on a regular basis is to set aside time every season change.
