ARC Lifeguard
I began taking swim lessons when I was fifteen years old. I learned how to swim by the time I was fifteen. I learned how to swim the front crawl, back crawl, back stroke, breast stroke, and sidestroke. I practiced swimming each element to each swim stroke until I mastered each one of them. For example, I would practice swimming the scissors kick to the side stroke and the proper arm motion for the front crawl, also known as the freestyle swim.
I earned my American Red Cross lifeguard certification when I was in my late teens. So even though I had very little swimming experience, I perfected my water skills well enough to gain certification to to ensure the safety of others around water, as well as save rescue someone from losing life or limb in aquatic environments when necessary.
Swimming Age
I larned to swim in deep water when I was fifteen years old.
My great-grandmother, Mama Margie, learned to swim when she was in her sixties. You are never too old to learn new skills. My great-grandmother is eighty-seven years now, by the way.
