is a service that provides the Million dollar guarantee to protect your identity. Lifelock is so convinced that their protection works that their CEO has his social security number plastered in all of their print and television commercials. A little background on me, I have actually worked in credit card companies and I have had the unfortunate circumstance to have my identity stolen not once but twice. I happen to have a social security number that apparently is easy to use.
I can tell you from my experience, Lifelock provides a huge service that can save you from hour upon hours of grief. Even as an insider from the credit card industry, I had to literally spend no less than 80 hours clearing up my credit due to these situations. Lifelock provides you proactive protection against identity theft. You may read in multiple forums that Lifelock does what you can do yourself. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you really have the time to provide all the necessary follow up actions that you need to complete the same process. Lifelock also provides protection in case something does in fact happen with your social security number. Can you do that?

Here are a couple of highlights of the Lifelock service.
First, Lifelock will put fraud alerts on all of your bureaus. Can you do this? Sure, do you have the time? Most people do not. Lifelock will also repeat the process every 90 days. Lifelock will also remove you from all preapproved and junk mail lists. The credit card companies I would imagine are not happy about this at all. Direct mail is still a primary account acquisition channel. Lifelock will also order your annual credit reports. How many people actually do this now? If you are like most folks, you probably do not do this. Lifelock also offers a lost wallet service which will basically call all of your credit card companies and handle the process. Speaking from experience this is a lifesaver in of itself.
