LifePrint DNA Kit
This page was created as an information sourceĀ for the LifePrint DNA kit used by parents in the United States and Canada to store samples of their children's DNA in case of emergency.
The LifePrint DNA home kit is also being used by caretakers and families of Alzheimer's patients.
A Solid Case for a DNA LifePrint for Your Child
John Walsh (host of popular television show America's Most Wanted), experienced a horrible personal tragedy and since that pivotal moment in his life he has been a tireless child advocate and crime fighter.
In fact, DNA LifePrint, is the only commercial product he endorses.
John Walsh claims that if a DNA LifePrint had been available for use on his six year old son Adam, it would hove unequivocally solved his case.
Don't let John's story be yours...

The DNA LifePrint Kit has within it everything necessary to take and store a DNA sample of a family member.
Contents in the kit include: sterile cotton swabs, a sanitary glove, a vapor proof storage vial containing a fixative solution, and one storage envelope. You'll also receive all the instruction and literature required to make and keep your DNA sample safe.
It's really quite easy...
The entire procedure takes less than 2 minutes and DNA is collected by wiping a swab inside a person's cheek for several seconds.
The swab is then inserted into the vial. The vial is placed in a scientifically designed red envelope that filters out ultra violet light. The envelope is then kept in a safe place at room temperature.
Average life-span: 80 years.

A little history on how this great product came to be.
The DNA LifePrint Kit was created as an investigation tool to assist authorities in the safe return of our family members - both child and elderly.
The man behind the idea for this kit was Joe Matthews; a 30-year police veteran and former supervisor in charge of the Miami Beach Homicide Division.
After Joe's lead detective work on the nationally-publicized "Baby Lollipop" case and the Adam Walsh (son of John Walsh, the host of America's Most Wanted and advocate of children safety) case, Matthews knew something more than fingerprinting was required.
Adam Walsh was kidnapped and murdered at the age of 6 in 1981. He had been on a routine shopping day at the mall with his mother when he went missing.
FingerPrinting is Not Enough
It has been estimated that as many as 80% of all preventative measure child fingerprinting (taken at fairs, malls and by parents at home) are not legible enough for identification purpose should the emergency arise.
Joe Matthews retired from the Miami Beach Police and dedicated his time and attention to create the DNA LifePrint Kit.

This was an interesting read. Our private school recently adopted these as an extra service to parents. I hadn't known the story behind the product, thanks.

We do have these kits for all of our children and one for my ailing mother-in-law. I care for her at home here but she's worse than a child for trying to wander off down the road, so the DNA sample helps give us peace of mind, just in case.
I had no idea that John Walsh had suffered such a tragedy and that he only endorses one product. My compassion and appreciation to him.

Speed and Information Are Crucial for Recovery of Missing Persons
When a child is noticed missing, speed is crucial.
Your first step is always to inform local law enforcement officers. Your next step is to arm them with any means necessary to recover your child or loved one.
Police officers need accurate identification information in order to track and safely return your child as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Traditional identification methods such as fingerprints or footprints are often illegible and useless. Investigators need a determining factor that can resolve identification questions quickly. Modern science has provided that determining factor - DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) analysis.
DNA LifePrint home kits are under $20 and can be found on this page of the Market America Inc website.
Preventative Measures
Every 40 minutes a child is reported as missing in the United States...
It can happen to anyone.
In 2006 the FBI reported that over 950,000 missing person entries were made in the National Crime Information Computer. 80-90% of these entries were either children or adults stricken with Alzheimer Disease (or other disorienting conditions).
Finding and returning these people to their loved ones is a difficult task. Abducted children are reported as traveling away from you at a mile a minute - having a quick response and the right resources on hand are one of the surest ways to recovery. As you'll read below DNA is a police officer or investigator's best tools.
The LifePrint DNA kit is a cost efficient way to ensure you have your family members' DNA on hand for such an emergency. My hope is that you have one on hand and that you never need to use it.
