Lifetime Fitness. It's Worth It.

Lifetime fitness is the gift you give yourself. It rewards you in so many ways all throughout your life. Not only will you gain the benefits of a sound body and good health, but you will also have more energy, sleep better, think more clearly, and just have a better quality of life overall.

And the gift of lifetime fitness comes in many packages. You won't have to limit yourself to any narrow workout regimen. In fact, gaining and maintaining your fitness through a rich variety of strategies is your best option.

Shake things up a bit and keep your fitness plan fresh and vibrant. Maybe one day will find you working out building strength and flexibility at your home gym and another day will find you increasing your cardiovascular system and aerobic capacity at the local golf course.

Perhaps you will take a nice hike in the woods on a pleasant spring day and grind away your stress on your treadmill when the weather is all wet. There are just so many healthy options available to you that it hardly makes sense to limit yourself to any one.

All it takes is a little imagination and planning to make your entire life better with a regular dose of lifetime fitness. That and the determination to do so. Make staying fit a lifetime priority, don't give into the decline you see in others. It is never too early or too late to make the commitment to a fuller, healthier, and more vibrant lifestyle. Lifetime fitness will make your life better.

Where Should You Begin Your Lifetime Fitness Journey?

Yes, you are motivated. Yes, you see the overwhelming benefits of lifetime fitness. But where do I begin, you ask.

You begin at the only place you can - right where you are! You may be in such good shape you are ready for the Olympics. Or you may not even be up to watching the games on TV. It really doesn't matter. What matters is your future and not your past.

Well, your past does matter in that it will determine your starting point. But it won't determine your path forward.

What you need to do right now- this moment- is to determine what activity, sport, or exercise plan you can center your fitness plan around. You need to choose something you think you will enjoy and stick with. Pick something that appeals to you.

Also, choose an activity or exercise plan that will give you a high chance of success. If you are just getting back in shape after a long period of neglecting your health, you might want to pick something like walking or light aerobics. Likewise if you are in great shape, pick something that you will find challenging and interesting. Maybe you'll decide to commit to building your body on a home gym. Maybe now is the time to begin mountain biking.

The point is to begin now. Challenge yourself with a new and exciting activity and you will be off on a rewarding lifetime fitness journey.

Hi flowergardner,

Thanks for the nice comment and rating. :)

Is there anything for the disabled to keep fit? Yes there is. It's difficult to recommend anything specific without knowing more but swimming or water therapy is one thing that springs to mind. Of course consult with your doctor before embarking on any exercise program.

You ask a great question and maybe I will add a module to address it later when I can find the time. All the best, -Chip
