Why do you need a mentor?

If you don't have one it's almost guaranteed you'll fail.

If you look around the internet you see the quotes often about what percentage of people fail in network marketing. It's usually a 95-98% failure rate.

Why is that?

No one to show the way.

I'm not talking about a "system", or a "kit", or a bunch of videos you can watch, but a real live person that is there to guide you and hold you accountable.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there

Find the way yourself.....or have someone who's been there show you the way

MLM (multi-level marketing) also known as network marketing, referral selling, among others, is a wonderful industry, but it has one ENORMOUS failing.

NEW PEOPLE DON'T GET TRAINED

They don't understand compensation plans. They don't read the contracts (in detail) that they sign. Also known as Policies & Procedures. (get yours out and read it, you may be in for a shock)

They're so excited about all the money they're going to make they just sign the application and never read the fine print. BIG MISTAKE.

They jump into the newest ground floor, entry level, "get in early", fly by night.....you get the picture.

Think about this.

Around 90% of new businesses, any new business, network marketing included, FAILS in the first year. Start with 100 now there's 10. Another 90% fail in the next year. There's 1 left out of 100 after only 2 years.

Are you that good? Oh I get it, you can predict the future and know which one of these new start-up rocket ship programs is going to be here in 2 years.

Don't think so.

You need to know what's important in selecting a company. Obviously if a company has been around for less than two years it's a loooooooong shot. Trust me, been there done that. We've been involved over the years with a half dozen companies that went belly up. I know what you're thinking, "hey take your own advice". Well we learned the hard way and you don't have to.

We didn't have a mentor. Lots of sponsors. Lots of people willing to take our money, and then act put-out when we called and wanted to know what to do next. "Hey, it's in the starter kit", or "didn't you watch the DVD? It tells you everything you need to know".

Won't work. This is relationship business. A sponsor is someone you have for a day, a mentor is someone you have for life.

How about the compensation plan or comp plan for short? How does it pay? Do you understand it? Can the average person make a couple hundred dollars a week part-time? How many people would you have to have to say make, oh I don't know, 10 grand a month?

If you can't easily answer those questions or if the person trying to "sponsor" you (that's a whole other lens) can't then RUN. You're going to be working too hard for a living.

About 85% of the people in network marketing are part-time and only looking to make a few hundred dollars extra a month. If you can't do that easily then how's it going to work?

IT'S NOT!

And that has nothing to do with the network marketing industry and everything to do with the comp plan. You have to be able to sift through the company hype and know for yourself how to understand a comp plan.

I could go on and on, but know this. Find a mentor if you have the dream of owning your own future and not working to make someone else a life. Not a sponsor, not a company, not even a system....

...find a mentor.

So if you've tried and failed at network marketing...once...twice...even a hundred times...it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong. It's because you didn't have a mentor to show you the way.

Here's hoping you find your way...Robin & Tony

About LifeTimeMentor

Finding the right mentor is THE key to success in network marketing. Also persistence.

It took us over 30 years of failing forward to finally find a mentor. Lot's of sponsors along the way and companies shutting down (or being shut down) but no mentor.

Finally we happened upon the ebook Success In 10 Steps and wow what a difference.

We learned about 5 Pillar Companies, understanding comp plans, reading and understanding the policies and procedures of a company, and met our own personal mentors who have been there every step of the way.

We love working with people and watching them travel down the road of success. Success is not a destination but a journey.
