Children’s Light Bulbs

If you are looking for children's light bulbs or nightlights, you will find many styles to choose from. Often the light bulbs themselves are much smaller than a standard bulb making these lights much safer to place around the house. Using small light bulbs in hallways and other dark areas will help everyone find their way at night.

Decorative nightlights using children's light bulbs can be found in many styles to match just about any decor. There are even nightlights you can decorate yourself to match your child's room perfectly. You can also find energy saving nightlights with bulbs that last for years and only cost pennies. These energy efficient light bulbs don't cost any more than standard children’s light bulbs, making them an ideal choice.

So what should you consider when selecting your nightlight? First, think of energy savings. Choose a bulb that offers an electroluminescent bulb. Not only is it energy efficient, but also it's cool to the touch. Some nightlight bulbs will actually have two settings. The first gives off enough light to brighten any room and with a flip of the switch you will have a nightlight that uses as little as 7 watts. Nightlights average in price form $10-$40 depending on which features you are seeking.

Economical Light Bulbs

Fluorescent light bulbs are more economical than traditional incandescent light bulbs. Incandescent light bulbs waste a lot of energy through unneeded heat that is produced when they are lit. Fluorescent light bulbs have electrodes at the ends of a tube. Inside the tube of the light bulb there is a tube made of argon and mercury. The electrodes send electrons from one end of the tube to the other, which excites the mercury, causing the mercury atoms to vibrate. They release ultraviolet photons, which hit a special phosphor coating inside the fluorescent light bulb. The phosphor glows, creating the light, and generating far less heat than burning a filament in an incandescent light bulb.

Fluorescent light bulbs that will screw right into any existing light socket are now being manufactured. These light bulbs are sometimes called Compact Fluorescent Lamps, or CFLs, and work by taking a traditional fluorescent light bulb and twisting it into a shape that will easily fit into your existing light socket. This is the most economical light bulb on the market today! Fluorescent light bulbs do cost more than incandescent light bulbs, but they last up to ten times longer than incandescent bulbs, saving you quite a bit of money over time! A good plan for those who wish to switch to fluorescent bulbs while on a tight budget is to gradually replace the incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent light bulbs use two-thirds less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs and the more fluorescent light bulbs you have in your home, the less your electricity bill will be.

Light Bulbs for Ambience

Light bulbs with lower wattage do more than save on your electric bill. In fact, light bulbs that have a lower wattage give off a softer light, thereby giving the room a romantic feel. Incandescent bulbs have an equally romantic effect, casting a soft glow over the entire room and its contents. Further, using colored light bulbs like blue and pink can add a special touch to any room in one’s home. Alternatively, for a truly spectacular touch, homeowners may select to use a tri-colored light bulb in their lighting fixtures; tri-colored light bulbs automatically change color.

Tri-colored light bulbs and black light bulbs are fantastic additions to a child’s bedroom. Children love the special affect of the tri-colored and black light bulbs and it can make a child feel like their room is truly their own. Green, red, blue, pink, yellow, and orange light bulbs are also excellent for a child’s room or they can be used to change the lighting within a house during specific holidays like Halloween and Easter.
