What is LightScribe and How is it Used?

LightScribe is a new way to label CD's and DVD's using a special paper mounted to the top of the media.  So in a nutshell, after you have created your cd/dvd, just flip the media over and burn an image or text to the media's top.

LightScribe's Abilities and Limitations

Pro's and Con's

LightScribe is great for professional quality labeling on your cd/dvd media. It by far supersedes using a marker to write the name of the material you are buring.

Pro's:

1: Allows you to put images on the surface (label)of whatever you desire.

2: Very easy to use, exspecially if you are already familiar with burning. It is basically the same concept.

3: Cheaper than using ink from your printer and buying special stick on paper. Also, there is less of a chance of jams in a player.

Con's:

1: The burning process may be considered slow depending on the image you are burning.

2: You are limited to black and white (greyscale) imaging. Unless your label paper is colored, this would give some false tense on color.

Conclusion:

Overall, LightScribe is cool and looks sharp. However, if you are looking for color it may be a while until they figure that one out. Give it a try today and see what you think.

If you need to make multiple cd/dvd's with labels at a time, why not look into a lightscribe duplicator?
