Have you heard of Lily Dale, the spiritualist community in Chautauqua County, New York?
I've been there to visit and to have a 'spiritualist reading' well over twenty years ago. It's a community that is still going strong today. If you are someone who is open-minded to spiritualism, psychics, mediums, and healers, you may just want to plan a trip there or perhaps a summer vacation?
It was my trip there with my mother when I had my first spiritual reading. I learned about my two 'spirits' or 'guardian angels' that were present that day and hopefully are still with me today as I sit here writing this lens!

Lily Dale is a spiritualist community of the Modern Spiritualist movement located in Chautauqua County, New York, USA.
It is in the Town of Pomfret at the north end of Cassadaga Lake, next to the Village of Cassadaga. Located in Southwestern New York State, it is one hour south of Buffalo, three hours south of Toronto, three hours north of Pittsburgh and three hours east of Cleveland. Lily Dale is located a half an hour from Chautauqua Institution.
The community provides a series of seminars and meetings throughout the year. There is a fee for admission to the grounds, which include a museum, The Marion Skidmore Library, Lily Dale Museum and Historical Society, bookstore, shops, and a snack bar. Also of note to the potential tourist is the Lily Dale pet cemetery. The pet cemetery is located at the entrance to the Leolyn Woods, a towering old-growth forest. The town of Lily Dale has its own Volunteer Fire Department, water supply and two swans named Lily and Dale. Visitors must pay a gate fee of $10 per person during the summer season which runs from mid-June until Labor Day. Gate fees are waived on Sunday morning to allow nearby residents to attend church services.
In 1916, the childhood home of the Fox sisters was moved from Hydesville, New York to Lily Dale, NY. The sisters are considered to be the primary founders of modern spiritualism. On September 21, 1955 the cottage was destroyed by a fire.
Lily Dale is often considered the most haunted place in Chautauqua county.

My trip to Lily Dale!
We found a medium that was located near the entrance into Lily Dale and scheduled an appointment. It was about an hour reading and it costs us at that time either $10 or $20.
What has stuck with me all this time is not so much the details of the reading, but hearing that the medium read two strong auras around me; actually on either side of me. She said they were both of my grandmothers who had passed on.
To this day, I do believe in guardian angels ... my two grandmothers!
One of my guardian angels: my grandmother!

Energized by Lily Dale: William Paul, Artist Extraordinaire

Living in close proximity to Lily Dale, NY, he will often retreat there to energize in its natural unassuming beauty, and receive what he considers to be the direct inspiration of "Angels". Although, he confesses, "I am often awakened in the wee hours of the morning, with these visually resplendant images, to bring forth into the physical plane through my skills."
"Everything in life is a challenge. View it this way and it's Pan Bread, view it that way and it's Sourdough. Just make it work!" --William Paul.

I read this book a while ago. Glad to see a lens here. One of the things that stuck out was how the expectations of command performance has tainted the readings. Not because the people aren't real and that they can't do what they say, but because they are tempted or forced into giving readings when nothing was there. They do have real readings, but not necessarily on demand as the world expects.
This is going into my squidoo library for when I have more time to follow the links. 5*

Very cool lens! I have been to psychics. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. Sounds like a cool area.
