HEY!!

Welcome to the limerick lens which is all about that underappreciated art-form of the limerick.many years ago I decided to purchase a book of Edward Lear's nonsense rhymes and I have been hooked ever since.In the following I hope to provide you with many links where limericks, their history etc can be find online as well as highlighting a few limericks on this page.

Limerick of the Week.....or month

Here is where I feature a limerick.I hope that as this page grows in popularity visitors will feel compelled to leave their own limericks in the guestbook.This particular one here is by Edward Lear, it is perfectly nonsensical and carries that distinctive Lear flair.

There was an Old Person whose habits,
Induced him to feed upon rabbits;
When he'd eaten eighteen,
He turned perfectly green,
Upon which he relinquished those habits.

A Quick Guide to Creating Your Own Limericks

Limericks consist of five anapaestic lines.
Lines 1, 2, and 5 of Limericks have seven to ten syllables and rhyme with one another.
Lines 3 and 4 of Limericks have five to seven syllables and also rhyme with each other.

DOES THAT LOOK CONFUSING??? Don't worry, the easiest way to learn how to construct a limerick is actually to read as many as it takes to get the hang of them.For some cool limerick related links check below.
