Lina Leandersson

Lina Leandersson was born on September 27, 1995 in Falun, Sweden where she currently resides with her mother, stepfather, and two younger sisters. She has loved acting and dance from a very young age and has taken classes in drama, and in street- and jazz dance. She would like to continue to pursue a career in acting.

Lina Leandersson is currently most well-known for her role as Eli, an androgynous vampire, in the Swedish film Let the Right One In (based on the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist), released in 2008.

In 2006 Lina was a jury member in the Swedish song competition Lilla Melodifestivalen.
Later that year she was picked as one out of five (from five hundred applicants) to participate in "Nickelodeon's Programledarskola."

Lina Leandersson has also appeared in a number of amateur theatre performances in Sweden.

It is suspected that she was on an episode of Dansa i Falun Dans show in 2006 (a talent show sort of program in her hometown of Falun).

+ When she was little she wanted to be a vampire.
+ There are quite a few people in her family who enjoy sports, but Lina is not one of them. "I was on a football team when I was in third grade. But I was so bad that I wasn't allowed to play in a match", she recalled.
+ She loves scary movies. Her favorites are Atonement, American History X and The Sixth Sense.
+ It has always been her dream to be an actress.
+ She has said that there are no similarities between herself and Eli (pointing out that Eli is more mature and contemplative).

+ Tomas Alfredson (director of Let the Right One In) has, in interviews, frequently commented on how intelligent Lina Leandersson is. Leandersson herself says school is quite easy.
+ She has said, "I am a night person who likes to sleep in the day. If I sleep over at friends, I always fall asleep five six in the morning."
+ Tomas Alfredson has compared Leandersson to "an 80-year-old woman, very wise and very quiet."
+ Lina Leandersson first found out about the role as Eli on the internet. After sending a tape of herself and attending three auditions she got the part, but she had no idea Eli was a vampire.
+ She thinks her voice sounds weird and was glad to be overdubbed in Let the Right One In (Note: Eli's voice is provided by Elif Ceylan).
