Linchpin Meetup June 14th
Ranked #19,789 in Business & Work, #372,786 overall
Linchpin Magazine - the idea in brief: dare to dream big and create something remarkable
The idea is simple. Each of us will meet at least one new person on June 14th, and will have at least one conversation. Some will be inspired to think thoughts they haven't thought, others will be exposed to new ideas, some may make lasting business connections or friendships. It will be an experimental, thought provoking evening for all of us.
We want to capture the energy, ideas and inspiration from this event and turn it into something wonderful to share with the tribe. A lovingly created, beautifully designed magazine, written by all of us who are attending, telling how the meet up inspired or challenged or changed us. Published 7 days after the event. All profits to charity.
Linchpin magazine - the detail.
Here's how it's going to work
After the event you have 48 hours to send us your stories about the people you met, the ideas that were shared with you, how you were changed, what you will do differently now, what you've understood. You'll send us your images and text. We won't accept anything after the 48 hours are up. We want to strike while it's all fresh in your mind.
By June 21st, one week after the meet up, we'll publish the first Linchpin magazine. We'll have curated all that inspiration into one beautiful publication which will be sold and distributed on MagCloud. We will add a small mark up on the publication cost, all of which will be donated to charity. We will publish sales numbers and details of how much we have donated on this lens.
Nobody involved will make a single cent from the project, apart from the charity we choose. We'll do it becuase it will be fun, and because we can. It's totally experimental - hell it might even work.

I will be sharing the OB4 Campaign...Of,By,4 the People...dedicated to changing the way politics in America is funded. Did you know that if just 50% of Americans donated $10 annually we could fund 4 candidates for every House and Senate seat! No outside funding, no political influence, no foreign interference.
Can you imagine this...don't give in to the Lizard...imagine!
read with italian accent....The Leezard Brain that lies within is a ferocious bastard! But I...Dr. Gino shall be prevailing weeth the assistance of the tribe.
I will be forever remembering the words of my university professor..Professor Forrest Guump; he shared these words with me while sittling in a small bar....
he said..." Gino, Life is Like a Bowl of Peanust " ( TM ) "The peanust represent positive ideas, big ideas, isa de firm ideas....The more peanust you are having...the beeger, stronger, firmer isa your peanust...the better life is!"
OB4 ... " Share the Peanust!" Ciao!
Maybe I become de Leenchpin??

Love this! With the theme of the meet-up ... "Some will be inspired to think thoughts they haven't thought, others will be exposed to new ideas, some may make lasting business connections or friendships. It will be an experimental, thought provoking evening for all of us" ... seems a perfect connector to the work of REACH GLOBAL (www.reach-global.org), which provides exactly these same benefits and opportunites to very poor women and girls in the developing world. In small village circles, they gather weekly for life changing education on health, livelihoods and family finance -- becoming the linchpins of their families and village community. Thanks for a great project and hoping to offer here a great charity partner!

What a great way to keep this going! Our group, one of four now in Toronto Canada, is actually dedicated to Linchpins in non-profit/charity. We'll send our story within 12 hours! Thanks for the opportunity! PN (http://sites.google.com/site/paulnazarethtoronto/)

GREAT IDEA!!!!!!
Wow!! What a superb initiative Kenny! I'm in!
Let me tell you I'm the in the most challenging situation than people living in other part of the world. Here people don't know Linchpin and there's no inherent benefit of Seth Godin reference that will work.
Even then I'm trying to do it. And will provide the report from my meet up.
I'm hosting it on Skype. There are a few people signed up, I know not everyone will come.
Please let me know how can I improve my meet up. Here's my meet up link by the way:http://www.meetup.com/Linchpins-are-everywhere-raise-the-flag/2645/
I'm already inviting friends through my blog: http://www.kamilali.com/2010/05/linchpins-are-everywhere-are-you.html

Its a wonderful idea. Our group in small town, rural PA is making big strides to change the community we live in. We have a group of 30 or so Linchpins and actually meet every Monday in an informal setting we have dubbed ThinkDrink (recent article published about the group: http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/think-drink-york-pa/central-penn-business-journal-cover-story-refreshing-ideas/120840134618719). I am excited to tell our story and share our images with the rest of the world!

An awesome idea - love it! Agree with thinking re-online version... could make for an interesting site - link ideas/stories to sat map and so on (multi-lingual might be cool too).
What's the charity/s? Thinking one that affects many around the globe - perhaps kiva.org, acumenfund.org - maybe even www.crowdfunding.co.za as well? These guys are all into combining microfinance with the internet in empowering individuals to lend to an entrepreneur in a developing community. Seems like a fit.
All good :)
Caroline.

This works for me, no reason why all locations couldn't contribute, sorta like "A Day in the Life" or "Worldwide Hubs Form" or "Welcome to the Linchpin News Hour" This will truly be one of the moments, this one for the "Social Media Wall of History" I guess I am a bit "Quote Happy" here, I'll stop now.

Great idea. I'd like to submit something from one of the NJ Meetups. I mean, Jersey's just not getting any coverage in the last few seconds. Also, I like KennyWJ's idea of putting the mag online for free, but I'd like to suggest a charity donation if people are able to contribute.

[in reply to Ted Kusio] I think it would be great if we could work on an online version of this as well.
Anne McCrossan wrote
[in reply to KennyWJ] Kenny a colleague of mine in Zurich Arjen Strijker is interested in contributing something from the Zurich meet up and I've given him this link.
We're going to have a photographer and video happening in London so there'll be a huge amount of content available for London!
Ted Kusio wrote
I said this on Meetup but maybe it's worth a repeat:
I think it'd be great if this was a loose collection of notes, drawing, doodles, ideas, all from people who are indispensable, who want to do something, make things better, reinvent the wheel and make it rounder...
I'm also interested in helping make an online version of this, if there's interest.

Nice idea Kenny !
I'll put it in our resources in the Triiibes, so expect some people coming from that direction.
Anne Mc Crossan is one of them and you will probably meet a lot more in London.
Have a nice time together.
:-)

Oh heck yeah! I'm all over it for the KC Linchpin Tribe. I'm standing with everyone all over the world for a rich and remarkable experience and this magazine stands to share that wealth with the world at large.

Kenny hi can I nominate The Child's i Foudation as a charity http://www.childsifoundation.org.
Lucy Buck, the founder, is coming to the London Linchpin meetup and is a member of triiibes and a total linchpin. http://www.squidoo.com/lucy-buck-anne-mccrossan-linchpin
(my disclosure is I'm a trustee of the charity).
Child's i Foundation cares for babies that are abandoned in Uganda as result of searing poverty and AIDS and we've just opened our first transitional babies home in the last two weeks and admitted our first six babies. It seems fitting that charities that are connected to Linchpin are how we make a difference with this project. I'm open to other ideas, just wanted to mention it. Cheers.

Sa-weet idea/action, KennyWJ. I've just Tweeted and posted this to Facebook. In addition, I'll be spreading the word to folks who attend the June 14 Meetup in Pawtucket, Rhode Island ("Little Rhody").
Please keep me informed and updated. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to let me know.
Dance on...

- Will anyone be attending the Bonnaroo music festival from June 11-14? I am working the festival so I will have to miss the New Orleans and Nashville meet up but I would love to set up one for those attending the festival. I can offer various music/legal/motion graphic services. Let me know. Thanks.

- Loved Ted Kusio's phrase "reinvent the wheel and make it rounder." This might be a good title or subtitle.
I'll be with the Cincinnati, OH group and will contribute.
I think the goal should be to spread the message rather than raise funds. I propose a free ebook that could go viral.
