I LOVE LIFE!
I love life and perhaps it comes from being raised on a farm surrounded by the rolling hills of southern Idaho. I have now made my home in southern Utah among the beautiful red mountains and desert heat. We live in an area called "Color Country" and the big red mountain you see below is three blocks from our house.
I am the mother of six sweet daughters. At the age of 50, I went back to college to get my degree. In 2002, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree at Southern Utah University. I now tour all over the United States, teaching people the importance of Family Legacy, encouraging others to turn their family history and autobiography into a variety of interesting stories. I write articles for the American Chronicle and I'm an author. I tell my audience: "Dreams can come true at any age, if you work hard enough."

Our Big Red Mountain

I am the author of several historical fiction novels including Melinda and the Wild West, a semi-finalist for the "Reviewers Choice Award 2007." The historical fiction series, A Family Saga in Bear Lake, include the following novels: Melinda and the Wild West (2006), Edith and the Mysterious Stranger (2008), Jenny's Dream (2009), David and the Bear Lake Monster (2009), and Elena, Woman of Courage (2009). I teach people how to write their family history or autobiography, stories that must not be forgotten. I have taught the bereaved who would like to write the biography of a loved one. I have taught in libraries and nursing homes, helping them to tell their stories. Even though adults are the main audience, I have attracted many teenagers who want to learn how to write. For many of these young people, it's just the beginning. I have taught the runaways and troubled, who have been brought to my workshop as part of therapy. Writing helps to express one's inner most needs and desires. To write can be a healing process.
WRITING WORKSHOP
I teach people how to take their family stories and make them interesting for their children and grandchildren. I teach the most important elements of writing. I help patrons of libraries to get started writing your family history, autobiography, or develop their writing technique. We discuss setup, characters, plot, the importance of conflict and emotion. I believe the secret of holding a reader is using emotion; it's the difference between a slow or a lively retelling of a story. I encourage people to make their ancestors come alive on paper, something their children will be proud of. Why I teach
I fly all over the United States, teaching Family Legacy Writing Workshops at libraries. I teach because I love helping people. I love to see the glow on their faces as they speak of a loved one.
