Ribbon Cutting of Senator Lindsey Graham's Pendleton Office
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony May 15, 2009
124 Exchange Street Pendleton South Carolina
The Reverend Curtis Hill of New Holy Light Baptist Church gave the Invocation. This was followed by an official Pendleton Welcome by the Mayor Carol Burdette. The Honorable Lindsey O. Graham, United States Senator, gave his remarks in which he said "As a United States Senator, my first job is to serve the people of South Carolina.
The Pendleton office offers me and my staff a tremendous opportunity to expand our services and increase our accessibility. We want to be there to help South Carolinians when they are confronted with problems involving the federal government. The Pendleton office is an important piece in our work."
Richard and Shelby Quattlebaum cut the ribbon in the official ceremony. They own the building and had spent countless hours getting it just right for the Senator's arrival.
Refreshments and office tours were enjoyed following the ceremony.

Meet United States Senator Lindsey O. Graham
Who Is United States Senator Lindsey O. Graham?
The following information was printed in the program for the Grand Opening and re-printed here with permission from the office of U.S. Senator Graham
Lindsey O. Graham was elected to serve as United States Senator on November 5, 2002.
A native South Carolinian, Graham grew up in Central, graduated from D.W. Daniel High School, and earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Graham logged six-and-a-half years of service on active duty as an Air Force lawyer.
From 1984-1988, he was assigned overseas and served at Rhein Mein Air Force Base in Germany. Upon leaving the active duty Air Force in 1989, Graham joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he served until his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994.
Since 1995, Graham has continued to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and is the only U.S. Senator currently serving in the Guard or Reserves. He is a colonel and is assigned as a Senior Instructor at the Air Force JAG School.
In 1988, Graham went into private law practice and in 1992 was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives.
In 1994, he became the first Republican to represent South Carolina's Third Congressional District in Washington since 1877.
Graham is known as a leader who never abandons his independence or strays from the conservative reform agenda. He has fought to balance the federal budget, provide tax relief to all taxpayers, keep our military adequately funded and prepared, return control of education back to parents and teachers, and ensure the government keeps its promises to America's greatest generation.
Graham lives in Seneca and is a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He serves on six committees in the U.S. Senate: Aging, Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Judiciary, Budget, and Veterans Affairs.

- Senator Graham, I just heard you subjest that we can violate the First Ammendment of the Constitution by controlling what one can say or do (burning of the Q'uoran). You swore to uphelp the Constitution of the US like I did in my 20 years of naval service; instead, you want to do away with it. You are wrong sir. You do not have the right to ignore any clause of that document; you are suppose to save guard it.
I am an immigrant from Cuba and you know what happens to countries that ignore or are not educated of the law. You loose everything. So if you want to stop the dissemination of military classified information, enforce the laws in the books after you find out who leaked it. leave my right of expression as the founders intended it to be.
Sincerely,
Luis O Rodriguez

- Maggie Sue, the Senator's lease was up in his previous office and he had to find another one. This is a new office for him but not a brand new office. It is an old building on our historic square. As far as I could tell, there was no splurging or unnecessary spending.

- Oh... that is good to hear... it disturbs me when I hear of some Senators spending taxpayers' money frivolously so they have a grand office for show... thanks for the lens... it is a good one. Matt :)
