KVD Line & Lure Conditioner

Taking some time to address the common problems fisherman face daily with their fishing line.

Fishing Line Problems Solved - KVD Line & Lure Conditioner

Get better performance from your fishing line

There comes a time while fishing that we each experience problems with our fishing line. This may be line memory, line twists, un-expected knots or even pre-mature line failure due to harsh chemicals like petroleum-based lubricants. We have all had them but, there is a product on the market that solves those problems, it's called KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and it is worth it's weight in gold. Kevin VanDam and many other top level pros know the difference a line conditioner makes while fishing.

KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is a non-toxic water based lubricant to condition your fishing line. When using this product; you can cast 25% - 30% further, virtually eliminate fishing line memory, twists and tangles, and you can rest assured you are using something environmentally safe. Unlike many other products for line treatment, KVD Line & Lure Conditioner has no petroleum distillates which feel slippery, pollute the environment and break down the internal lubricants of your high priced reel.

I'm not trying to knock down any other products that have been available for some time, just educate everyone to the facts that this product is different, with better qualities and is "ok" for the environment we work to keep clean for future generations.

If you haven't tried KVD Line & Lure Conditioner on your line before and fish a lot, think about giving it a try. You can save money changing line less often, and with gas prices hovering around $3.50 per gallon, we can all use a savings some place.

The KVD Line & Lure Conditioner Difference!

Some Further Information About The Line & Lure Product.

A letter to our Distributors, Representatives and Friends

I would like to point out a few "dynamics" of our product that will help you better understand some of the benefits an angler can expect with the regular use of Line & Lure and why it is miles ahead of the others line products.

The only real commercial competition for Line & Lure is Blakemore's Reel Magic. It needs to be stated that oil based line dressings like WD-40 and Reel Magic have been around since the 1950's and were used to address some of the problems that anglers were experiencing with monofilament line, the predominant line of the time.

Reel Magic and WD-40 is merely silicone oil with added petroleum distillates that are listed as toxic by the EPA and on the product's label. The silicone oil adds some level of lubrication to line but is very temporary. Just how temporary these products are, can easily be observed when casting after a fresh application. One will plainly see the oil slick it leaves on the water surface. We anglers love the waterways that we fish, so why would we use or condone the use of toxic products that wash into lakes, rivers and bays?

Reel Magic and WD-40 does have a relaxing effect on the corkscrew memory that we see in monofilament line due to the petroleum solvents added to it. Unfortunately, these solvents reduce memory by literally dissolving the outer surface of the line, thereby weakening it. The use of these products, can contribute up to a 50 % loss of monofilament's line strength in just a few days. If that wasn't bad enough, these oils and solvents sprayed onto reel spools are also getting into the reel's moving parts including bearings, gears and seals. The very nature of the oil in these products draws and holds dirt to these parts, negatively affecting their performance and lifespan. The solvents in the products are known to degrade the seals that the manufacturer built into the reel to protect the inner moving parts. Ask any professional reel repair technician and chances are that he will agree.

On the other hand, Line & Lure contains a blend of non-toxic, polymers that are not found in any other "line dressing or conditioner". The proprietary polymer blend in Line & Lure imparts a coating to line that actually bonds to the line's surface. In theory, this bond becomes a permanent part of the line. The only way to remove this coating is to abrade it from the line, by friction. The polymers fill any line surface imperfections and create a very uniform and smooth microscopic coating on the line. This smooth surface is inherently more resistant to friction than an untreated one. In this case, this phenomenon provides multiple benefits.

First, as friction does start to attack the line (as it goes through the rod guides, over obstacles, etc.), the polymer acts as a sacrificial buffer to that friction. Practically, our replaceable polymer finish wears instead of the line itself. This of course extends the line's life tremendously.

Secondarily, these polymers are extremely hydrophobic, meaning that they literally push water away at the molecular level. This hydrophobic action reduces the amount of water that is retained on the line during a retrieve. It is this water surface tension on the reel spool that is a major contributor to casting distance restriction. This phenomenon is further demonstrated when we take into consideration the reduction in backlash that anglers find when using Line & Lure with bait casting reels.

This surface tension principle is the same thing that one experience when they pick up a sweating drinking glass and find the coaster being picked up with the glass. The less water on the line, the less the resistance caused by surface tension. This equals much longer casts and fewer backlashes!

It is also easy to see that with less water retention on the line there will be less contaminants coming back up on to the reel. This is especially important when fishing in saltwater. As we all know, it is the salt crystals that form in-between the loops of line on reels that cause a lot of the wear damage to fishing line. This salt also invades the seals on reels and over time acts like sandpaper wearing on reel components. Just as on the line, the polymers in line & Lure protect the seals from the elements, helping keeping them in prime condition. The anticorrosive properties of Line & Lure also dramatically reduce corrosion damage to rod, reel and artificial bait surfaces. Simply put, Line & Lure greatly extends the useful life of fishing equipment, lines and baits.

Line and lure contains extremely high sunscreen protection. This sunscreen blocks the UV rays from sunlight. UV radiation has a massively destructive effect on fishing line. Fishing line can literally burn at about half the rate as unprotected human skin! Using Line & Lure on your line is equivalent to using an SPF 30 on your skin. The competition has no more UV protection then baby oil.

Anglers are very happy with the benefits that they get using Line & Lure on monofilament line, but please keep in mind that Line & Lure was primarily designed by Kevin VanDam and RMR Industries to address the inherent problems anglers experience with fluorocarbon, co-polymers and braided lines. Other line dressings have little or no positive effect on these hi-tech lines.

After 1-½ years in development and testing by thousands of anglers around the world, Line and Lure has been proven to work effectively on any type of line made by any manufacturer. In addition, it is the only line conditioner that positively affects the flexibility, knot strength, casting and control of fluorocarbon line. Anglers using Line & Lure can expect the following benefits:

* Longer casts.......guaranteed!
* Virtually eliminates line memory, backlash, tangles, and twists
* Restores new line performance to old tired line
* Fights saltwater corrosion on reels, rods and tackle
* Leaves no oily residues or scents like other line treatments
* Contains no polluting petroleum distillates as in other conditioners
* Fights fading and damage to gear with high sunscreen
* Reduces water spotting on electronics & sunglasses
* Environmentally safe - non-toxic
* Superior Fly Line Dressing
* Unsurpassed de-icing performance in ice fishing

Bow To Stern Marine Protectant

BTS Protectant vs. Waxes

BTS Protectant vs. Waxes

Most people consider gelcoat as just a cosmetic finish on a boat when in fact; it is the primary protective layer for underlying fiberglass. It protects the structural fiberglass from water and the sun. In essence it is the sacrificial skin that protects the hull structure.

No one debates the need to seal and protect gel coat finishes, but there is disagreement over how best to do it. While many people still use automotive carnauba waxes, the boat industry and boat manufacturers are increasingly recommending only gel coat sealing protectants. There are a number of valid reasons for this. While carnauba waxes may be fine for vehicles, its durability and value on gelcoat is very limited and in most cases counter-productive. The problem shared by both carnauba waxes and automotive sealants has to do with the very nature of gel coats. Gelcoat is naturally semi- porous polyester resin, pigmented material. Seen under a microscope, your boat's flat, smooth gel coat surface has millions of tiny valleys per square inch! These holes, or pores, systematically fill with microscopic grime, carbon from exhaust and mineral crystals from water. It is this contamination in conjunction with photo-oxidation from sun light that promotes gel coat oxidation, staining and wear. Believe it or not, bacteria, which we all know is everywhere, live in these small pores. Most people will tell you that an oxidized boat has seen too much sun and they are 70 % correct! What very few people realize is that the other 30% is the work of bacteria. Think about the damage that bacteria can do to your teeth. And yes, it is doing the same to your gel coat. Bacterial waste products (acids) in the pores of your gelcoat are eating away at the gel coat from the inside; filling the pores with dull chalky debris. As this chalk fills more and more pores, the entire gel coat surface will take on a dull, faded appearance. Think of this oxidation as "plastic rust". Carnauba waxes and automotive sealants do not remove pre-existing micro-contamination in the pores. Worse, they seal the contamination in place where it continues to oxidize from the inside, under that so-called "protective wax". The surface may shine with a wax coat for a while but there is trouble under that shine. In addition, waxes start to melt around 120 degrees. With the addition of direct and reflected UV and thermal radiation the wax is literally melting off your gel coat finish. Most sealants/waxes contain strong petroleum solvents and/or abrasives. These ingredients are enemies to gelcoat; they actually accelerate gel coat oxidation. Bottom line; don't use automotive sealants, waxes or other polishes on gel coat finishes. Use only polishes and sealants that are designed for marine gel coated surfaces.

RMR Industries the makers of Bow To Stern Marine Protectant's chemists spent 5 years in the development of BTS. When we started on this project, we defined the properties we wanted BTS to have, which included:

1. The highest sunscreen protection factor available.
2. A formula that kept the sunscreens in place on the surface.
3. Could be used on any part of a boat, gelcoat, vinyl seats, windscreens, motors or carpet (eliminating the need for multiple products for different surfaces).
4. Would clean the debris and organisms out of the pores of surfaces that most other solutions and detergents miss without the use of abrasives or harsh chemicals.
5. Reinforce the built-in plasticizers in surfaces that keep them looking new.
6. Created a long lasting and durable protection.

Bow To Stern is a highly complex combination of polymers, each with a specific job to accomplish in the process of protecting your boats surface. Each alone do a superior job in there own right, but in combination their protective abilities are unsurpassed. The sealants in Bow to Stern Protectant have much better bonding characteristics, better abrasion resistance then carnauba waxes and can withstand temperatures of 250 degrees. To begin with, a BTS application cleans the surface and extracts micro contamination without the use of harmful solvents or harsh abrasives. Upon curing it seals the surface. The BTS polymer shield fills the surface pores and repels subsequent contamination from returning to the pores of the surface. This long lasting protection will greatly retard the oxidation process and add years to the life of your boat's finish.

On the first application of BTS after cleaning your boat, you may notice a smeary residue on the surface after the BTS application has dried. This is normal during the first use and is nothing more then the old wax and contamination being cleaned out of the pores in the surface. Simply wipe this residue with a damp cloth to remove it. Use a soft cloth to buff the high gloss finish back into your gel coat.

Don't forget that BTS protection is just as effective on protecting the vinyl seats and plastics on the rest of your boat. The ultra high UV screen and sealant properties in BTS keep your seats looking and feeling new. Mold and mildew staining on your seats and carpeted areas of your boat will be a thing of the past with regular use. The synthetic sealants in BTS will outlast carnauba waxes and will typically produce a brighter shine. Our sealants will last 90 days and more, even in salt water.
