don't use lingo if you are an expat. their help hours are not expat friendly. i couldn't get help in Beijing to set up the line so i cancelled it and got charged $59 for early cancellation. the collection dept was so busy that i had to call 5 times to get someone to accept payment. it's never good when a company's collection agency is super busy.

I have been with Lingo for 7 years and I am leaving. They just went down the toilet. I have been on the phone with technical support over 20 hours in the last 3 months and I am done. They will repeatedly promise to fix the problem after putting you through exhaustive troubleshooting and nothing ever happens. They like to blame your ISP. Talking to their Indian tech support is like speaking with robots. They always read the same answers from their cue cards, no matter what happens. It's a shame to see such a great startup company go down the tubes. I was one of the first customers to take advantage of this really good offer and I am one of the last to leave. I am turning out the lights, ok

I have been Lingo client for more then 3 years. I could live with so-so connection quality once-in-awhile interruption of service and absolutely pathetic technical support, because their international prices were unbeatable (were is a key word). I had one of the "unlimited" services. Starting April 2008 they decided to charge me full price for the
Service PLUS per minute. I had to call every month to their customer service to deal with barely English speaking people - every time they apologized - give me the credit and next month same happened again. Finally I cancelled the subscription. Stay away.

I'm sorry for your bad experience. Maybe because i'm using for several month (and I paid for th WHOLE year), I cannot cancel the service. I must admit sometimes the voice is bad, but I still keep it because Lingo is really cheap and it save lots of my money. I used to pay $100 for the phone bill and I saved by lingo, although the voice doesn't feel good like the landline phone

They are terrible. Awful call quality, and the customer service is both inefficient and deceiptful.
I tried to cancel my service (not the first time). They told me they would wave the next month's fee if I kept it. I told them I wasn't interested. They then told me they would actually charge me for the following month if I canceled my service (because I was within 10 days of the next billing cycle). I know they want to keep the business, but this is ridiculous. I've only kept the service to keep from losing my phone number, as I've been forwarding my Lingo number to a phone line with AT&T for several months now. Now they tell me they'll charge me more if I cancel the service than if I keep it.
This after having me on hold for 40 minutes, after months of poor service (dropped calls, lots of static), and them blaming my ISP for poor call quality! I never blog about things like this, but they just made me sick.
