Do some article submissions, guest blogging and blog commenting kind of activities for getting lots of high quality backlinks to your website

I think that's a great concept from the outside; however I am of the same opinion as manchester...I do appreciate the concept and it probably does work, but gaining backlinks from authority sites based on communication and participation sure provides for stronger, long-term benefits...once again, in my opinion. Thanks for the article though. Brings a lot of good conversation.

Many thanks for pointing out these resources. I do feel that the Search Engines do know about these programs and wonder if they follow the footprints and devalue the links. That said, a link is a link whatever the value and if you build enough of them you would eventually outrank the competition. Thumbs Up for you.

Thanks for the information! I am thinking for using a service link this but am afraid of getting blacklisted.... I might have to give it a try though

You must remember, when you use "link schemes" you run the risk of having your site hit with a penalty. Link schemes are great for short term SEO but not for long term rankings.

Interesting lens on link building and automating the process. See you around the galaxy...
  • manchester Jul 17, 2011 @ 5:51 pm | delete
I'm really not a fan of automated link building schemes. I just think links should be placed for editorial value or manually sourced in the very least i order to ensure quality and relevance.

Is blog commenting a good way to get links?
  • aashi-techmagnate Jul 7, 2011 @ 7:17 am | delete
yes but make sure to get links from the same theme...
  • googleseotips Jul 10, 2011 @ 8:13 pm | delete
Yes it is as long as the blog is related to your niche. Blog commenting however has now lost its reputation because now people have started to abuse it by spamming them to get links. So if you don't want to be known as a spammer in your industry make sure you comment only when you have something useful to offer. Its good to get links but don't comment on a blog just for a sake of a link. If you follow these it won't not only give you backlinks but you'll be treated as an authority in your niche and more and more people would like to link to you by themselves.

    I hope this helps.
  • ProVideoProducer May 23, 2011 @ 7:43 pm | delete
I've always felt the best SEO is Organic/White Hat. When building my site, which is geared towards and offers video production, I painstakingly read, read, and read all the information again to make sure it pertains to my site's subject. I hate it when I click a link only to find out that the site does not pertain to my want or search.. It's a big waste of mine and their time & energy and totally ruins their credibility in my book. Just because you "trick" me into visiting your site does not mean I'm going to make a purchase or return.

Good information. Just remember, anytime you use "link schemes" - you run the risk of having your site hit with a penalty. Link schemes are great for short-term SEO, like holiday landing pages and such, but not for long term rankings

A lot of valueable information is jam packed into this lens. I would highly recommend staying away from TLA though. The new Google algorithm in 2011 is really slapping sites left and right that use their service.
  • jennikitten Jan 17, 2011 @ 10:07 am | delete
Nice lens, it would benefit from clarifying which of these sites (if any) provide follow links rather than nofollow, though. Also, I personally believe that white hat SEO is any kind of SEO that doesn't break Google's specified rules, although I agree that 'white', 'black' and 'grey' are too simplistic for names.

I think Google is always one step ahead of where everyone thinks they are when it comes to ranking websites. So proceed with caution. A few high quality, genuine backlinks can be worth more than hundreds of low quality ones.

If anyone else had suggested this I would've skipped right over it, because I am inherently skeptical of the SEO value of paid link directories and most reciprocal link schemes. I think that while search engines follow them to FIND new webpages, I'm not sure how much those links actually count as far as increasing a page's ranking in the SERPs.

But you know what you're talking about. Hm. Still wary, but I trust your recommendations more than my own, that's for sure!
  • texasshutterbug Sep 3, 2010 @ 10:30 pm | delete
Another suggestion would be just to create another blog similar to your websites goals with a different url and then link to your squid lens that are related to the topic. Why wait around for people to rank your site or approval. Take it into your own hands and create then outsource.
  • rpmsol001 Sep 3, 2010 @ 1:56 am | delete
Backllinks, One-Way Links, Reciprocal Links... I am so tired of it all I decided to do something radical. With tons of Reciprocal Links and Google pissing and moaning about linking programs and all, I figured I would just give Google what it wants!

I locked myself in my room with lots of coffee and junk food and set myself to the task of writing a link cloaking application that would turn any URL (Links Page or what ever) invisiable to all the major search engines while having no effects on the URL for anyone else what so ever. A few weeks later, I had it working just the way I wanted it to.

The only problem was that if someone got their hands on my code, the gig would be up and everyone would be downloading it from Rapidshare in a day or two. So back into my room and two days later, I had it working perfect on my own server using remote includes via PHP from websites on my remote vhosting servers.

No way anyone can tell anything is going on at all. Not the search engines, not the link partners or link checking bots. nobody! I'm doing some final testing and plan to add some detailed stats to be sure nothing is getting past my cloaking. Anyone want to check it out or maybe help me add a control panel so I can let other people use it too, that would be great.

I'm not sure if I can post a url here, do just search for link-fusion. It on an Open Dns System URL with an ORG extension.

    Take, Robert McCulloch
  • Bryan Aug 24, 2010 @ 8:36 pm | delete
Google is familiar with most paid linking sites so it's important to study these things before purchasing links. Google will penalize a site that it knows it using a link service.

Good information regarding Link Vault and how it works. I've not tried this specific one, however, I've tried article submission and recently created a lens on it. I'll have to try Link Vault when I have some time. Thanks for the review!
  • don Jul 29, 2010 @ 10:36 am | delete
I'm not much a gray hat backlinker. I confine my backinking to PR 5 sites and better. In a moderate to low competition site. I have found that 15-30 quality links from PR 5 or better sites especially with a number of them being .gov .org .edu sites will often get my sites to pg 1 google in just a week or three. I also check back to be sure my comments passed moderation and I then pink that url. My comment has updated the site. This gets your link noticed by google quicker or seemingly soooo.

My own website is a bit amateur and not good enough to submit to Linkvault, although I would like to have backlinks to it. Would it be OK if I submit one of my best Squidoo links, and then, in return, I receive backlinks to my website? This is all a bit advanced for me, but I shall study and use it all in good time - thanks.

Backlinking is a little tricky. I think the best rule of thumb in my opinion is to find similar websites with content related to your and have them link back as a recommendation with a specific. Such as a food blog that discusses different reciepes can link back to another blog who provided a recipe linking back to that other website that provided that information assuming that other site has food reciepes as well.
  • dtopmark Jan 1, 2010 @ 1:12 am | delete

  • Get Back Links Apr 22, 2009 @ 9:59 pm | delete
The most simple method of creating links is to select the SEO keyword and search the word on any major search engine. Begin by reviewing each of the Top 10 or Top 20 pages returned from the search result. Firstly, research the page ranking from the potential back link page. If that page has relevant content and a good ranking, scan the page for a potential area on the page that a back link can be placed. Ideally the position of the link should offer good exposure for even web surfers. Repeat this process weekly or monthly. Free back links do not always provide the best quality for increasing link popularity.

Well, Google just changed their algorithms to make link farms become extinct, so thanks, but I'll have to do it the hard way...ask for reciprocal links.
  • Margarethe Apr 9, 2008 @ 5:42 am | delete
Linkvault won't allow me to register- says to come back after 2/5. Do you know what the problem is?
  • poddys Mar 17, 2008 @ 4:24 pm | delete
Sounds really useful. I'm going to check this out tonight. Thanks very much.

Great stuff on link building techniques. So much in need of traffic. Thanks for tips.
  • VestRite Feb 10, 2008 @ 7:47 pm | delete
Great tips on link building! Look like Link Vault has it all figured out.

Honestly, I don't really agree with your whole "grey hat" idea. I think there are very good ways of promoting your site for the search engines that are also user friendly. Black Hat SEO is the stuff that IS banned ALREADY.

I've got to remember to sign up for your link building service, Link Vault. I'm guessing it is fairly new as you have a PR of 0 currently.

    Keep alive!

    Sincerely,
    Devin T.

I didn't like your article until I got to read your last paragraph: "link Vault or Link Farm?"

Personally, I think networking done manually is the only way to get your site higher up in any Search Engine. The question is not about the number of links but their quality.

This is a pretty good source for backlinking. I gave this site my review. I have been using a program that does work for me and it helps automate the process. No, it's not blasting. I purchased and use this product with good results. It can be found at: directory.profitsdomain.com
  • Webevents Mar 22, 2007 @ 6:37 am | delete
I don't think this is the way forward as you may end up having to put a lot of not very relevent links on your website. A good article on link building can be found here: http://www.thewebconsumer.com
