Welcome to my lens where I will share with you some ideas for getting links to your squidoo lenses.  I hope you find the information helpful.   Please feel free to add a link to your lens in the plexo I have placed at the bottom of this page.

Directory Links

It is difficult to get a squidoo lens listed in online directories because most will reject subdomain pages. There is a good directory I found where you can list your lens for free it is called Exactseek.

Social Bookmarking Sites

A great way to get high quality free links to your lenses is by bookmarking them. You can find a list of the 131 top bookmarking websites here. There is also a bookmarking site specifically for squidoo lensmasters called Lensroll.

Articles

One of the best ways to get a lot of quality links fast is to write articles and submit them to article directories with links back to your lenses in the bio box. This can also bring a lot of traffic along with the link building. The biggest article directory is Ezinearticles. There are thousands of other directories. You can find a list of the top 50 here.

Forums

Participating in forums is a good way to build links to your lens. Each time you post in a forum you create another link with your signature. You can find a list of forums to post to here.

Blogs

You can build a lot of links to your lens by having a blog and linking to your lens in your blogroll. By doing that you will create a new link every time you post to your blog. You can start a blog for free at blogger.

Online Classified Sites

Another way to get some links to your lens is by posting ads on classified websites. The two most important online classified sites that will give your lens the most exposure and SEO boost are Craigslist and Usfreeads.

RSS Feed Links

A good opportunity to get links is by using your RSS feed for your lens. You can submit it to feed directories for syndication. There is software available where you can submit your feed to all the major feed directories. The one I use and recommend is RSS announcer.

Join Squidoo Groups

A fast and easy way to get links to your lens is to join groups within squidoo. I recommend joining the groups that accept all lenses as well as those that are of the same topic as your lens.

Tags

By using keyword tags in your squidoo lens you are making internal links in squidoo so your lens can more easily be found by searchers. For best SEO results I recommend using tag words and phrases that are also found in your write modules.

Link Exchange

Some don't like the idea of link exchange because of their diminishing SEO benefits. They still count toward link popularity and pagerank however. Exchanging links can also benefit you by getting your lens some direct traffic.

Zimbio

You can get some strong links to your lens by using Zimbio. They will take the feed for your lens and syndicate it to their network. To use zimbio effectively you need to put some content in the introduction of your lens since that is what is included in its feed.

Lensroll

If you have more than one lens you can link to your others with your lensroll. It can also be a great way to exchange links with other lensmasters.

Tweet your lens

Another great link to get to your lens is from twitter. Google seems to love twitter right now and any site that google likes is a good idea for linkbuilding. All you need to do is setup an account at twitter.com. Squidoo also makes it easy for you to get twitter links. In your profile just add your twitter details then after updating your lens there is a link to automatically "tweet" your lens for you and get a link. I just tried it today and it's really cool.

Buying Links

The free methods I have already covered are usually more than enough to promote a lens. There are a few situations where you may want to consider buying text links from other webmasters. If your lens is targeting a very competitive keyword purchasing text links may be needed to get on the first page of google. If you choose to purchase links I recommend text link ads because the sites selling links are screened and are high quality.
