Linkin Park

Originally consisting of three high school friends, Linkin Park's foundation was anchored by Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson along with Rob Bourdon. After graduating from high school, the California natives began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band then titled Xero. Though limited in resources, the band began recording and producing songs within Shinoda's make-shift bedroom studio in 1996. Tensions and frustration within the band grew after they failed to land a record deal. The lack of success and stalemate in progress prompted Wakefield, at that time the band's vocalist, to leave the band in search for other projects. Farrell would also leave the band to tour with Tasty Snax and other bands.

What I've Done Music Video by Linkin Park

"What I've Done" is the lead single from Linkin Park's third album Minutes to Midnight, and is the band's highest debut on the US Hot 100

The music video for "What I've Done" explores the many ironies of humanity and its ill effects on the earth and the environment. It juxtaposes various pieces of footage: a large, well-fed man eating fast food, a woman measuring her waist and a man who is so malnourished that his ribcage is visible through his skin; African Americans being hosed down and the Ku-Klux-Klan; nuclear explosions, the World Trade Center towers collapsing, children waving American flags, a Middle Eastern child holding an AK-47, clips of oil tankers torn in half and birds covered in an oil slick. Disc jockey Joe Hahn of the band directed the video for the single, which was shot in the California desert.[7] The video premiered on April 2, 2007 on MTV and Fuse. It premiered on MTV-Asia, MTV-Germany, TMF Netherlands and Canada's MuchMusic on April 3, 2007.

Hybrid Theory is the debut album by the American nu metal band Linkin Park

Four singles were released from the album: "Papercut", "In the End", "One Step Closer", and the Grammy Award-winning "Crawling"

Released on October 24, 2000 through Warner Bros. Records, the album was a huge commercial success selling over 24 million units worldwide, peaking at #2 in the U.S. Billboard 200 and reaching high positions in charts worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from publications. Recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore, the album's lyrical themes deal with problems lead vocalist Chester Bennington experienced during his adolescence, including drug abuse and the constant fighting and divorce of his parents. Hybrid Theory takes its title from the previous name of the band.

Four singles were released from the album: "Papercut", "In the End", "One Step Closer", and the Grammy Award-winning "Crawling", the latter three of which were responsible for launching Linkin Park into mainstream popularity. At the 2002 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Best Rock Album.

In The End Music Video by Linkin Park

"In the End" is a song by Linkin Park. It is the eighth track from their debut album Hybrid Theory (2000)

It is also their biggest pop hit, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

"In the End" was released as the fourth and final single off of Hybrid Theory in 2001. It was originally written as a poem by the lead vocalist, Chester Bennington, with Chris Petersen, and was later established as a sufficient song for the album. The original demo version of this song was labeled "Untitled" (which may or may not have been an actual title), and contained various different rap verses by Shinoda.

Great stuff - I love Linkin Park, but I haven't had a chance to pick up their latest album yet. I thought Meteora was superb.

(BTW, the YouTube vids are no longer working.)
