1. It can't help with generalized weight gain:
   The whole point of liposuction is to lose weight, but the procedure isn't as all-encompassing as some people would like. Liposuction has to take fat from a specific area in the body. It can help you narrow your waistline or tighten your bottom end, but it can't help you look thinner everywhere, or drop several dress sizes over night. In fact, most experts agree that liposuction should only be used to remove small amounts of weight (think ten pounds or less) in order to minimize the risk of complications.
2. It takes some time:
   Although liposuction is billed as a "quick fix" to weight problems, the truth is it really isn't so fast. The trauma of liposuction causes a fair amount of swelling in the affected area, and that swelling can take a surprisingly long time to go down-up to six months, in some cases. Because of this, you need to make sure you get your liposuction well in advance of your special date. If you don't have six months, you may be better off saving your money and just dieting instead-a month or two on a good diet will make you look a lot better than you would swollen and puffy from surgery.
3. It carries a significant risk of unsightly side effects:
   Although liposuction can help you look slimmer, it does have some drawbacks. Some of the more common side effects included bumping or dimpling of the skin (sort of like cellulite), sagging or baggy skin, and minor scarring. The less weight you are removing and the more elastic your skin is, the less likely these problems are, but there's no guarantee you'll be able to avoid them entirely. If you plan to keep the affected area concealed under a wedding dress or evening gown it may still be worth it to you, but if you were planning lounging poolside in your bikini, you may prefer a few extra pounds to having trouble with your skin.
