LinkedIn: With over 23 million professionals in its community, it is one of the largest business social networking services. It helps its users find more professional and business opportunities.

Xing: It also helps people build connections with other professionals and business people. Basic membership is free. However, it requires a monthly paid membership for additional features, which include sending messages to people who do not have direct connection with you.

There are also sites which target a more specific group of users:

Flickr: people who are into photography or simply love taking and uploading pictures, and then share
them with others
Flixster: movie fans
GuildCafe: online gamers
Shelfari: book lovers

    Social networking sites can also be a venue for communication between teachers and students. It will be a good place to share ideas and at the same time post questions so that students who do not have the guts to participate during discussions inside the classroom will be able to share his/her ideas without facing their classmates.
