The Little Black Dress for The Pear Shape / Bottom-Heavy / Wide Hips
The trick is to go for a dress with an A-Line skirt, a skirt that gradually widens or a flare skirt and at the same time fitted at the waist. Attract the attention to your waist and chest, you can go for halter or strapless to accentuate your upper body.
If you have an oversized/loose black dress, you can belt it. Belt it at the waist or try an empire waist cut.

Suggestions for the Pear Shapes
The Little Black Dress for those with Proeminent Belly / Wide Waist
Try a simple dress with a detailed neckline (or acessorize it) , attracting the attention to your neck and chest.
The less details as possible around the problematic area and a not very fit / defined waist. Try a drop waist or an empire waist. Go for firm fabrics.
The Little Black Dress for Top-Heavy / Full Bust

Sleveless styles will attract the attention to your full bust, so try a small jacket or bolero to complete the look. Try three-quarter length sleeves too.
Go for wrap dresses and flattering necklines: scoop, plunge or sweetheart-neck.
Jackets and Boleros
The Little Black Dress for those with Small Bust
If you want to add volume to the upper body, try lots of details and ruffles, embellishments and flattering necklines just like high, crew, asymmetrical, gathered and any other necklines that actually widen instead of elongating.
The Little Black Dress for the Skinny and Rectangle Body Shape
If you want to add curves to a thin body, you should create a defined waist, you can do this by adding a belt or picking a fitted dress at the waist. You can try to wear belts of a different color to break up your silhouette and add dimension.
Also try a feminine style with ruffles and other details that help to add volume and curves too.

- I have one that my mother wore when she was young. My mother and I were separated by about 40 years, so that's one old dress -- but you wouldn't necessarily guess it. Actually, I guess I have two from my mother's youth; the long sleeve one not only needs repair, but I shrunk it, so it's a littler black dress than it used to be.
