Little Lulu, Tubby, Witch Hazel - We loved them all!
Little Lulu Comic Books were my favorites growing up. I loved Little Lulu outsmarting Tubby and telling Witch Hazel stories to Alvin. Recently I located a vintage Little Lulu comic book and was delighted to rediscover the classic content from an adult reader's perspective.
Little Lulu Knew What She Wanted and How to Get It!
An early role model of a strong female.
Today some people want to call Little Lulu a feminist. I would just call her a strong girl who knew what she wanted and how to get it. Created with lots of humor and a sense of the ridiculous, nevertheless Little Lulu blazed the way for little girls to roll up their sleeves and take charge."Everybody's Favorite Juvenile Feminist:
She's 7 Years Old and 70 Years Young!" gives a 21st Century look at the Classic Little Lulu, with some well-done nostalgic summaries of the early comic book editions.
"Don't be mad at them, Annie, they can't help it, they're boys!"

I'll be a fan of Lulu Moppet until the day I die. After collecting back issues of the comics for a couple of decades, I reached deep into my pockets a 2-3 years ago and bought a few items I'll treasure forever: John Stanley's rough "pencils" for a "Nancy" comic that introduced the character Oona Goosepimple; and three original Marjorie Henderson Buell single-panel drawings from the 1930s.
I'm with you, Nany - the Witch Hazel stories are absolutely the best feature of the comics and are among the best fantasy stories of the 20th century.
I have some of my Lulu items among my Flickr posts. Go to my flickr site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/strobis/sets/481537/ and have a look sometime.
Love your page - it's just great!

I especially loved the stories about Witch Hazel. They seemed to always start with a little girl collecting beeble berries in the forest. I asked my mom for some beeble berries.
