Little People Figures From Fisher Price

Fisher Price re-vamped their line of Little People and have a bunch of new figures that may not be especially collectible from a nostalsia perspective, but then again, who would have thought that all those Little People rolling around in the bottom of your toy chest would have some value to collectors someday?

These new Little People from Fisher Price almost cry out for little hands to play with them. There are so many cool new figures like the Grandparents shown below. These are so cute and go very well with the Fisher Price airplanes, farms and other assorted sets the company offers.

A lot of the newer Little People are actually named. There are Roberto and Maggie, and Pixie Pippa among others. The number of playsets are expanding at an almost exponential rate, with Noah's Ark, Fairy Treehouse, Spin 'n Sparkle Car Wash to name a few.

Back when I was a kid (like my old guy voice?) we didn't have all these different sets, we had the little car (I loved putting the dog in as the driver) or the school bus.

Here's a few of the newer Little People that are available from Amazon.com. They are usually packaged three to a tube.

Just about the only place you will find the older Little People will be on eBay or other auction sites. It's surprising that there is such demand for these little toys.

It seemed like everyone had a stash of them when they were kids, but like everything from our childhood they begin to disappear and after a certain number of years they begin to be sought after as collection items.

It is a little unsettling to have something from your own childhood now being described as "vintage" and one wonders what else one played with as kid might be of some value to collectors.

Perhaps all those millions of little plastic green soldiers buried in lawns might turn out to be valuable. I'm tempted to show up at my grandparents old house and start digging, but the new owners might not take too kindly to my explainations of "old buried toys."
