How's It Stack Up to Other Playhouses?
Comparison with the Step2 Naturally Playful Front Porch Playhouse
You get a lot of the same things with each playhouse - working Dutch door, pass-through window, working doorbell, play phone. The Little Tikes has a pretend stove while the Step2 has a sink with faucet in addition to a stove top. The Step2 includes a skylight in the main area to make it brighter inside, nice since it is more square than the Little Tikes. Having a hard time comparing how big they are as measurements for the Little Tikes are long and skinny, while the Step2 measurements are more square.
The big factor might be that the Little Tikes comes in at Amazon a little cheaper, while also coming with play food and tableware. That may not matter to you as you might already have those, but if you'd need to stock up, it's a good consideration.

A collapsible playhouse or play tent might be the choice for you
Maybe you have a small yard and don't want a playhouse permanently taking up a chunk of it. Or maybe you don't want your dogs to have constant access to pee on your child's toy. Or maybe you want the playhouse to pull double-duty inside and out.Any of those sound like you? Then you might want to consider a play tent instead. I tracked down the Le Café Playhouse pictured here as a comparison because it has that "added" space of a porch. But this guy is actually much bigger than either the Little Tikes or Step2 playhouses mentioned, so it works for bigger children as well as just more children. The door swings open and the window rolls up to get fresh air inside.
If you do go for a play tent or collapsible house, remember that you're going to have to set it up every time your child wants to play. Not only that, you'll have to find a way to store the items they'll use for play inside. But you'll be able to encourage imaginary play inside even when the weather's to bad to go outside.
Furnish Your New Little Tikes Playhouse
Making the playhouse feel a little more like home
The Little Tikes Picnic on the Patio Playhouse comes with play food and tableware, but no way to cook the food on the pretend oven! Boo! So you might consider a cooking set as your first option for adding to the playhouse. I liked this Learning Resources Cooking Set because it was colorful, but also there weren't an over abundance of pieces that could end up scattered around the yard. (I suppose since they are colorful, at least you'll be able to find them in the yard!)It's a 10-piece set, plastic of course since it needs to live outside. Along with the pans come utensils and a tea kettle, all with big and easy to grip handles for those little hands.
You'll have your own ideas for what your child might want to stock the playhouse with. I've added some I thought would be cool below to get you started. From the reviews I've read, there's actually enough room inside for at least one piece of furniture along with your child.

- My sister had two gorgeous wood playhouses in her yard for years till her now grown daughter moved one to her new home. The mill where my sister's husband works raffle off for charity an elaborate playhouse (that the mill workers build each year) and my sister was lucky enough to win one and then have her daughter win one the next year. They are gorgeous.

- We love playhouses and tents! Our children had the Little Tikes playhouse and the each had a tent that fit their twin beds. They also used to make tents and forts with blankets draped over chairs on rainy days :)

- I remember a cherry tree we used to climb up. There was no house up there and there were no cherries most of the year (and we ate them way before the have ripen) but we have great fun! Thanks for bringing this back:)
