Little Bear, the very best toddler show!

Ranked #1,884 in Parenting & Kids, #58,807 overall

Little Bear & Family

Little Bear: He lives in the woods with Mother Bear and Father Bear, and goes on adventures nearly every day with his friends from the forest.

Little Bear is a sweet, low-key show with lots of wonderful relationships. Little Bear and Mother Bear sew a doll together. Little Bear and Father Bear go fishing. Mother Bear and Father Bear walk and talk and laugh together. It's nice to watch.

Friends like Duck, Owl, Hen, Cat, and others contribute more to the great interactions, and make his many adventures more exciting.

Original opening of each Little Bear episode.

This video shows the opening sequence, with all the regular characters and the theme song. You can see what I mean by gentle and sweet by watching this.

The theme song is calm, not obnoxious at all! (Unlike some!)

Little Bear on the Internet

Nick Jr's Little Bear page
If your little one loves Little Bear, this is a great place to find pictures to color and e-cards to send.

Little Bear has personality

Little Bear is curious and sweet, and has a good relationship with his kind Mother Bear and Father Bear, and with his friends from the forest. They use their imagination to make stories, put on plays, or go on wild adventures.

Never scary, obnoxious or overly energetic, Little Bear stories are a welcome sound in my living room.

Little Bear DVD

Little Bear's Band is a great starting place. At 109 minutes, it includes a set of four music-based episodes, and sets on the topics of music and love. Twelve toddler-sized episodes on one inexpensive disk.
Music
When the record player gets broken, Little Bear and his friends form a band to play for Grandmother and Grandfather Bear's anniversary party. Three more fun musical episodes are included as well.
Friendship
Little Bear plays with his friend Emily, but her doll, Lucy, always wants to come, and never wants to get dirty! Little Bear and Mother Bear come up with a great solution-- a friend for Lucy. And more episodes about friendship follow.
Love
Skunk is stinky, and wants companionship. In this episode he finds love and gets married (and Little Bear gets skunked) in one of four sweet episodes about love.

Little Bear's Friends

Skeptical and aloof, Cat is always nearby the action, but not in the middle of it. He says "no" whenever he likes, and will follow it with explanations like "Cats do not swim."

Hen is very ladylike. She dreams of being a star, though her singing voice is a bit... difficult. Little Bear helped her put on a show (as "Diva Hen") and encouraged all their friends to come and appreciate it. Cat was not as cooperative as he might have been.

Hen: Birds sing. Why can't hens sing?
Cat: Because they can't.
Little Bear: (whispering) Cat!
Cat: What?

Emily is a close friend to Little Bear. Sometimes she plays with the friends as a group, but some episodes center on Little Bear and Emily alone.

In one episode, Emily brings her doll, Lucy, every they go together. But Lucy limits their fun because she needs a lot of attention, and doesn't like to get dirty. At home, Little Bear is talking with Mother Bear about the problem, and comes up with an answer! They will make a friend for Lucy.

When you want to know something, just ask Owl. Friendly, naive, but smart, Owl can be counted on in a pinch. When Mr. Skunk and Ms. Skunk needed someone to officiate at the wedding, Owl was there.

A toddler at heart, Duck always wants to be in the middle of things. She can't count very high, but her enthusiasm makes up for it. Make-believe is her specialty. One day, she pretended to be Little Bear, and got Mother Bear to throw her a birthday party!

You'll meet Monkey, No-Feet (the snake), Skunk, Uncle Rusty, Grandmother Bear and many others when you watch the Little Bear episodes.

My 9 yr old Austic son loves to watch Little Bear before bed. I enjoy the time we share at the end of the day together. It's soothing for him and helps to slow down the pace. We both go to bed relaxed and it has helped with his night time routine.

My 2 year old daughter loves little bear. She watches it everyday. I as a parent think it's one of the best cartoons for young kids. You can let them watch it without being worried that a monster of some sort is going to pop out and scare them. It has a lot of good things to teach little children. I am disappointed though that I can not find any toys or even miniture figures of the characters. Besides that congratulations to the person who writes the stories. Keep it up and we are looking forward to new episodes.

I wish little bear had a soundtrack with all the music used throughout the show. There's this one tune in particular they play at the end of several episodes like "Top of the world" & "Up All Night", that I love but can't find it. Oh please, give us a soundtrack!!!

I think the way they use all the different animals getting along together is such a great way to show unity. Best of all, it's not "over-the-top" like so many cartoons are today. Great portrayal of the show!

We LOVE Little Bear in our house. It works like magic to calm down my over exuberant 4 year old - we've watched it since she was a baby and are watching it still, now with her little sister. The best thing about it is the gentle music which used to send my husband and I to sleep. It is the best thing on kids TV.

Best children's TV show ever. Seriously. what makes this show stand out is not what tries to force teach my kids, but rather that it doesn't try to teach them anything but the value of friendship, family and curiosity. With little dramatic arc or loud characters and inane songs, most kids might not be drawn to it immediately. But if you can sit them down to an episode they suddenly see characters behaving in manners that they can understand.

I love this show and so does my son. Ho-ray for Little Bear!

Little Bear is the sweetest, kindest, funniest, smartest, gentlest cartoon cub ever created! His family is warm and gentle and his friends are unique and supportive. They use their imaginations to go on real and sometimes imaginary adventures and always return home to a close-knit family.
