Our Little Bear Birthday Party

My son had a Little Bear party theme for his 3rd birthday! He loves watching Little Bear. It is one of his favorite shows, so he chose to have this theme for his birthday. It was a tough decision between Little Bear or Franklin, but he finally decided on Little Bear.

The Little Bear television series is based on a series of books written by Else Holmelund Minarik, and illustrated by Maurice Sendak. It first aired in 1995 on Nickelodeon, and currently airs on Noggin.

This lens will provide everything you need to host a fun Little Bear theme birthday party for your child. I will include details and photos from my son's party as well as some other great ideas!

Our Little Bear Cakes

I used a Wilton Mini Bear Cake Pan to create my Little Bear birthday cakes. At the time, my son did not like icing so I decided not to ice these bear cakes since I wanted him to enjoy them. Instead I served a bowl of whipped cream on the side for the everyone to top their chocolate cakes with. It was delicious! Of course, you can decorate these cakes in many different ways if you chose to.

I also made my own cake picks by printing out Little Bear images off of the Internet, attaching them to toothpicks and inserting them into the cakes.

Our Party Favors

For the children's favor bags, I included :

Hershey Kisses with Little Bear Stickers, a Bear Cub figurine (I found these at my local AC Moore) and Personalized Little Bear Stickers that said, "Happy Birthday, Kyle".

I also made separate favor bags for my son to hand out to his grandparents, aunts and uncles. These bags were filled with only the Hershey Kisses with Little Bear stickers.

The favors were placed in a clear cellophane bag with a personalized topper.

He was so excited handing out his bags! Too cute.

You could purchase a checkered tablecloth and have your own picnic just like on the show.

Pin the Tail on Little Bear
Draw a picture of a bear on a large poster board and have the kids try to pin the tail on the bear.

Bear Hunt
You could all of the guests bring their favorite bear or other stuffed animal. Hide the bears around the house or outside and each guest has to go on a bear hunt to find their bear!
