Here's "Sunny"!

He's Spreading Sunshine One Inch at a Time!

Sunpillar

"Sunpillar" is one of my happiest creations! Isn't he awesome? Back in the early 1970's, my mother imagined and developed these wonderful stuffed worms. She used fabric scraps to cut circles and then stuffed them and strung them together to create the worms. She embroidered their faces and created the effect of clothing and hair using bits of yarn, ribbons and scrap felt. She made several different worms and named them all appropriately. They were soft and adorable. "Sunpillar" is my version of her worms and a tribute to them. The body is circles of various design elements from other designs I have created. It's sunny face is circles with rays and he has lovely curly antennae with which to communicate. His purple feet crack me up! The sunpillar's sole purpose is to spread sunshine and happiness one inch at a time. When was the last time you had something designed simply "To Brighten Your Day!"?

The following captions are on the back of each series #

Encouragement

When people are down or discouraged often things look dark and drab. This design with it's bright and vibrant colors of yellow, green and orange help to encourage me when I am feeling down. I chose these colors as they are the colors of citrus fruits; lemons, limes and oranges. These fruits grow in warm and sunny climates and their frangrances are uplifting and refreshing. Close your eyes and you can almost smell the colors if you imagine it. Open your eyes to this happy design and watch it pop out encouraging you to feel fresh and new.

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 Encouragement is only a sunbeam away.
#2 Sunny thoughts to bring you encouragement.
#3 Encouragement is sunshine for the soul.
#4 Sunbeam's are heavens encouragement

Hope

"Hope springs eternal." The flower that reveal's itself when the rays of the suns face are pulled back, symbolizes hope. The colors used for this design are similar to new colors that pop out on the trees or through the snow in the first part of Spring.

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 Hope your day is sunny and bright.
#2 I hope you are having a great day.
#3 Sunshine provides hope when you have clouds in your life.
#4 Here's hoping that you are happy.

Strawberry Sun Days

"Strawberry Sun Days" was inspired from eating ice cream "conies" with my fairy grandmother every night. This yummy sun has a scoop of strawberry ice cream for its face with strawberry eyes, a banana mouth and for its nose, a cherry sitting ever so deliciously on top of a dollop of whipped cream. Pecans circle the face and ice cream cones with cherries stuck to the ends form the rays of the sun. The entire sun sits in a pool of hot fudge and colored sprinkles (jimmies) and ice cream spoons dance between the rays. Wouldn't you like to dig in and take a big bite?

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 Have you had your sprinkles today?
#2 One scoop or two?
#3 Sun days make everything better.
#4 Sprinkles are like confetti for the mouth.

Sun in Clouds

The caption says "Behind every cloud the sun is smiling". This is so true! I was inspired to draw this sun after seeing the suns' rays peek through the clouds after a very long rainy spell. This sun, like the sun I witnessed is smiling warm and bright. It filters through the clouds of gray to reveal its happiness. Every lover of sun should add this design to their collection.

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 You are my sunshine!
#2 Don't worry, Be sunny!
#3 I give you sunny smiles
#4 Maythe warmth of sun melt your troubles away.

Sunny Birthday

"Sunny Birthday to you; Sunny Birthday to you; Sunny Birthday dear sunshine; Sunny Birthday to you"!
"Sunny Birthday" has a birthday cake face. I drew roses made of frosting for the eyes and nose and piped "Happy Birthday" across the bottom creating the mouth. The suns' rays are made up of party hats with the words Happy Birthday and balloons alternately on them. Between each hat is a colorful balloon with a lit birthday candle in front. The tops of the hats have streamers bursting from them. Everyone has a birthday and it is the perfect excuse to have cake. Don't forget to make a wish before you blow out the candles!

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 May all your birthdays be sunny.
#2 Sunny Birthday!
#3 It's as simple as that.
#4 I wish you a sunny birthday.
#5 Let's celebrate your birthday with smiles.
#6 Time to do the birthday dance.
#7 Blow out the candles and make a wish.
#8 Sunny Birthday Song!

Sunny Daffodil

I was reading a magazine when I spied a copy of William Wordsworth's poem "Daffodils". As I read it, I thought about how much my Mom loves daffodils and that she would love this poem. As daffodils are such a "sunny" flower and are just popping up, I was inspired to draw a daffodil sun especially for my Mom. This is my mother's day gift to her and to all mothers.

Sunny Daydream

"Sunny Daydreams" is the sun I see in my dreams. It is happy and free: not a care in the world. It floats slowly through my dream warming everything it touches. It is often mistaken for a flower when it sits among the cool vines. Isn't he cheerful?

All for series #s have the same design, but different captions and colors on the back

#1 If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
#2 Sunshine Rays make happy days.
#3 A happy sun for a happy person.
#4 May all your daydreams be sunny.

Sunnycomb

As the caption says, "It takes a lot of bees to make liquid sunshine." "Sunnycomb" was inspired by my fascination of honeybees. The honeycomb face looks sticky and sweet with the many bees buzzing busily in and out of the eyes and nose dripping with honey. The playful rays which are formed using the bottoms of very large honey bees, look like they are standing guard ready to protect their "liquid sunshine" from anyone who would steal it before it is ready to be eaten. But don't worry, they are just decoys. When I look at this sun, I can't help but hear my sister singing "I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee%u2026" when she was very young. The colors I chose to use for "Sunnycomb" are very warm and rich yellows, golds and browns. Don't forget to bring your honey pot!

The following captions are on the back of each series #

#1 How about a nice cup of tea with lemon and liquid sunshine?
#2 Honey is nature's sunshine.
#3 Reward your hard work with something sweet.
#4 Liquid sunshine makes everything sweeter.
