Ralph Moody's Books Are Read Aloud Favorites In Many Homes
I hope you will try the whole series! We read them aloud in our home when our children were growing up, and now that they are mostly grown, they still read them on their own. Ralph Moody's books have become treasure family favorites to return to again and again.
Most recently, we have been listening to unabridged CD's of the book while in the car, a new way to enjoy Little Britches.

Little Britches Through The Fields Of Home Books
Buy the first five books by Ralph Moody.
Little Britches is first in the series.
Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers
First in the series, this book is as good as it gets for family values and a great read aloud find for any family.
Man of the Family
My personal favorite, Man Of The Family tells how Ralph and his family coped after the loss of their father.
The Home Ranch (Bison Book)
Another wonderful read aloud book, The Home Ranch is a delightful read full of colorful characters and wholesome goodness on every page.
Mary Emma & Company (Bison Book)
Ralph's mother must move her family back East. This heart-warming story tells of her courage in keeping the family together and the miracles that take place.
The Fields of Home
This book could stand on its own. It portrays a time when Ralph lived with his grandfather on the old family farm in Maine. It is my personal favorite for reading aloud as the dialogue is so much fun.
The Final Three Books In The Little Britches Series by Ralph Moody
Shaking the Nickel Bush
This part of Ralph's life takes place in Arizona after WWI, when Ralph becomes a 'cowboy artist of the Southwest' among other things!
The Dry Divide
Ralph works his magic yet again in The Dry Divide, as he tries to ride herd on a harvest crew.
Horse of a Different Color: Reminiscences of a Kansas Drover
Ralph's written story ends in Horse Of A Different Color, but this book is as delightful as all the rest. Read about Ralph's ingenuity and honor in spite of difficult times.
Little Britches Is Great For Families

- I was one of the first vendors to introduce these books to the home school community back in the early 1990's. We had read them with our children, and later one we read them to my nephew who lived with us for a year. They are one of the best series you can read to families with children of varying ages. When we started bringing these to home school conventions and school book fairs, we had a chance to help many families discover them, and soon almost all the book vendors were bringing them to the conventions. We stopped the traveling in 1995, but we still have the books in our home. When we first started reading them, they were out of print and hard to find. It's wonderful that the University of Nebraska Press reprinted almost all Ralph Moody's books. Now the children who first heard the books in the 90's are growing up and reading them to a new generation.
