1. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

How good does it make you feel when your pet is waiting at the door for you when you get home from work or a long vacation? Imagine someone feeling that for you and how that just might put a smile on your face. Now that you know that feeling, give it to someone else! If your significant other comes in the door, head over to greet them. Let them know you missed them. Consider it one of the small things that matter.

2. Never Pass up the Opportunity to go for a Ride

Have you ever seen the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man? The premise of the movie is basically that Jim's character must say "yes" to everything and therefore finds himself trying things he never would do and enjoying them. Get out there and explore the world, whether that be taking a road trip or checking out the new restaurant down the road -- don't pass it up.

3. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Be a good listener. We instinctively want to know what happened when someone we care about is hurting. If a friend or loved one is upset, hear them out. It's not about you -- you don't need questions answered. You simply need to listen to what they have to say.

4. Allow the experience of fresh air & the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Enjoy the small things in life. Slow down, take a walk, enjoy the sights.

5. When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

6. Let others know when they have invaded your territory.

This is to be combined with the next one, but don't be afraid to stand your ground. If someone has wronged you, let them know. You don't need to be a pushover.

7. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

Again, don't be afraid to let someone know when they've done wrong by you. Just be sure not to over do it. There are very few instances when a bite is necessary versus a good bark.

8. Be Loyal

9. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

Be passionate and goal oriented. The good things in life generally require great effort. Be willing to work for it and you will discover what you seek.
