What is Live Streaming Video Technology?

live streaming video, streaming video, streaming server, live webcasting, streaming video technology

Live Streaming Video is the transfer of digital media that is received as a continuous real-time stream over the Internet. Streamed video (including audio) is transmitted from a streaming server and received and displayed in real time on the receiver's computer; unlike video downloads, where the file has to be transferred to the receiver's computer before being watched.

The Internet is rapidly spreading the use of streaming multimedia, no longer is it about being able to video download and listen to audio streaming, the technology has moved on before our eyes to deliver video streaming. From marketing tools, to movie clips, from online infomercials to streaming TV and live webcasting, like it or not, we will all have to embrace this technology or else our sites will become extinct and our communication message lost to antiquity.

The first true video search engine, Google Video, shows that this
Streaming Video Technology
is becoming part of the day to day Internet experience for millions and millions of people, hence the Google take over of the widely used YouTube.live streaming video, video social network, marketing, streaming video, streaming video technology

YouTube was founded in February 2005 as a means for people to watch and share original video. Within two years it has grown into a site where more than 70 million videos are watched daily.

Most experts agree that the World is rapidly moving to the point of true convergence between the Internet, television and telephone systems that will provide one single service or application for a truly multimedia World.

Video Streaming: a whole new experience

Live Streaming Video and Video Email CommunicationIn the United States alone $2 billion were spent on streaming media technologies, and that this is projected to grow to $12 billion/year over the next few years.

Today the Internet is the fastest growing marketplace and video is the most effective form of communication on the information super highway. The Internet has become the place to communicate with each other and the main medium for finding information.

Video Streaming brings a whole new dimension to this experience for everyone, be they business people negotiating a deal, friends and family keeping in touch with their loved ones, or people sharing a common interest or hobby seeing each other for the first time. To fuel this momentum people online need fully integrated video streaming products for their communications and this technology is available now, ranging from video email, video instant messaging and even live webcasting and streaming TV. Live Streaming Video is the online future and, at the present moment, provides an opportunity to anyone who wants to be ahead of the rest.

One can help to fill this void and earn whilst doing so, either by having an advanced web site that uses Streaming Video over the Internet to gain people's attention and increasing the likelihood that the message will be acted upon and remembered, or by supplying access to the products and technologies that everyone will want to use.

The Internet is the fastest growing marketplace

video streaming, streaming video, live streaming videoThe fastest growing marketplace these days is The Internet itself - no doubt! We communicate with each other; we search, and locate information using the Internet. Life is unimaginable without it.

Video Streaming creates a whole new dimension to this experience for everyone: business persons can negotiate deals, and ordinary people can keep contact with their loved ones.

In order that a form of communication to be useful, it has to be effective at the first place. According to studies, streaming video over the Internet
gets people's attention and increases the likelihood that messages will be remembered.

Everybody knows that people tend to remember:

* 10% only of what they READ
* 30% of what they SEE
* 50% of what they SEE and HEAR together
* 80% of what they SEE, HEAR, and DO

These facts should have a significant impact on how individuals use the Internet. Email definitely has changed the Internet, but streaming video is
changing the whole World.

Email is the fastest growing form of communication. Hundreds of millions of emails are sent and received daily. Analysts are predicting that the number of email messages will ultimately grow to as many as 100 billion a day!! This may sound great, but remember: in order that communication to be useful, it has to be effective at the first place, so clearly definite strategies will have to be developed to achieve this aim of successful communication.

People started to include pictures and images to help convey the meaning, and to add impact. These still don't solve the above problem! Humans are used to 'face to face' communication. The message is interpreted from spoken word (55% of message meaning is derived from facial expression), and gestures as well 38%).

3 Excuses People Use For Not Taking Advantage of Online Video:

Are you making the same mistakes?

Excuse #1: "I just haven't gotten around to it yet."

Bad excuse! If you own a business of any kind, you need to be alert about trends and changes in your industry and be ready to act upon those changes to build your business. If you don't, your business could be left in the dust.

Especially with online businesses and websites. Things move much faster on the internet than they do in the "normal" business world. The internet has changed so much in the past 15 years... it's unbelievable! You must be alert to keep up with it - don't put things off.

Excuse #2: "Making video for my website is too hard, expensive, and time-consuming."

Not true! Nowadays, you can get a decent digital camcorder for less than $199. And if you have Microsoft Windows XP or higher, your computer is all ready to go with free video editing software called "Windows Movie Maker."

But what if you don't have the budget for a digital camcorder? (Even though it's a great investment) You can still use video to your advantage on your website!

For example, you can just get a $20 webcam and start using it to record short messages for your website or newsletter. This will build trust with your website visitors or newsletter subscribers. In fact, a lot of online marketers use this technique simply because it works (it seems personal), it's cheap, it's easy, and it's fast!

Excuse #3: "It's too hard and too technical for me to put video on my website."

Not anymore...

This may have been true in the past, but with new solutions like the one I'm about to share with you, you'll never be able to use this excuse again!

Camcorder Basics

Hobbies are great outlets for creativity. Using your camcorder to record special events and then edit what you have captured can be very rewarding.

First of all, you need to decide what kind of camcorder you will need to purchase. This will be dictated by how you want to use your camcorder. Do you simply want to record video for family situations such as kids playing, birthday parties, barbecues, etc. or do you want to use your camcorder for business (real estate for example) or lastly do you want to be a professional videographer who video tapes corporate events or weddings? Cameras can range from just a few dollars to many thousands of dollars depending on what you need to use it for.

In this article we will concentrate on consumer camcorders rather than professional video camcorders. Consumer camcorders usually range in price from about $300 to $1500 on average.

Camcorders come in analog and digital styles. Today digital is the most popular style, which provides far superior results to analog.

Camcorders can be found with many features and special effects like black and white recording, sepia mode which adds an antique effect to images, fades, night shot mode which is helpful when there is little light and more. Much of the latter effects can also be done when editing your video.

Some camcorders offer still photos as well, but may not be as sharp as your digital camera. Looking for a camcorder where an external microphone can be plugged into it is preferred, especially when good audio is important. Wearing headphones to monitor your audio can be very helpful as well.

Extra batteries are a must when video taping. An external charger is great because you can be charging a battery while another is being used. Another very important feature to consider is optical image stabilization. This feature helps to prevent shakiness in your video taping especially when a tripod is not being used. Your images will be sharper and clearer. Tripods can also help to steady your filming and take the load off.

Camcorders come in many sizes from ones that fit in the palm of your hand to very large sizes. Consumers usually have smaller hand held video cameras, whereas more serious videographers will buy larger, more expensive camcorders with more sophisticated features.

Digital video, audio and connection to a computer

Mini DV (Digital video) is the most popular format today for consumer digital camcorders. This format is great for editing video on your computer.

When first getting your camcorder, practice shooting scenes and get familiar with the controls. Avoid jerky, quick movements when videotaping. You don't want your audience to get dizzy watching your movie. For steadier shots brace yourself against a wall for example or use a tripod. Too much zooming in and out can look amateurish. Zoom slowly and infrequently.

Try to get a variety of shots from different angles to give interest to your movies. Take shots from high up angled down on your crowd or slouch down and angle the camera up to get a different angle. Take a lot of different shots as you can edit out what you don't like later. If you take the time to plan your sequence before you shoot you will be more organized and have more interesting shots.

To get better audio you may want to use an external microphone. The store where you bought your camcorder can show you the different types of external microphones available.

For additional lighting the easiest way is to add a light to your camera. You can also buy a couple of fill lights that are put on either side of your camera to reduce the harsh light from your camera.

To edit your video you will need a fire wire connection. Your video camera should come with a fire wire cable that connects to your computer. There are many video editing software packages you can buy. Your computer may already come with software such as Windows Movie Maker. You can buy editing software for windows and Mac computers of which there are many choices. Pinnacle, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro are a few names that are popular today.

If this is your hobby, you can practice with an inexpensive camcorder at first and then graduate to a more professional video camera as you become more skilled. There are many books on digital video. Read as much as you can, get out there and practice! You will get much better with experience.

Who Uses Streaming Video?

When considering who uses Live Streaming Video, many people may be surprised by the actual results. This is because almost everyone at one time or another uses streaming video. We may not realize this at first, but in many cases this is because we are unfamiliar with what it is that constitutes streaming video and who offers streaming videos to the public. Upon clarification of these things, we can see the truth as to who it is that uses streaming videos. Video is the medium that is being used, much like other mediums include auditory devices or still images. Streaming is the method through which the video is being transmitted. By understanding that streaming is not a medium, we are able to think more concretely about who uses streaming video and how they are able to do so. Streaming video is the series of images and sounds that are transported or transmitted from one source, to another location, from which the viewers will watch in the hopes of learning something or being entertained.

Television stations and channels are almost always offering streaming video, and this is because they are constantly sending out a signal that can be picked up by any individuals that are able to tune in to the station. This means that many of us have been using streaming video long before the birth of the internet. However, we are more familiar with this concept as a part of the internet because this is about the time when the phrase was begun to be used. Still, this does not mean that the definition does not apply when it comes to sources like the television.

Other Streaming Video users

Many people will offer Streaming Video on their websites because it is very easy for people to use, and it takes less time than downloading in most instances. Because of this, many people are drawn to the websites that offer streaming video clips, simply because of the convenience and freedom that this method is able to offer the individual. A person does not need to wait very long in order to view their streaming video, since all the computer needs to do is connect to the host server and buffer the video. This usually does not take much time at all. People are able to enjoy their videos without having to download them and find them somewhere on their computer. Streaming video also has less of a chance of being used by individuals as a method to infect computers, which is a problem with downloading. This means that many people use streaming video to avoid this problem.

Not only can many individuals use streaming video, but there are a number of establishments that can benefit from incorporating streaming video into their websites as well in order to offer something new and fresh to visitors of the websites. For example, the owners of blogs have begun to add these things to their websites. Many news sites have been offering video streaming for quite some time. The same applies to sports websites and many others where webmasters were able to acknowledge the many benefits that comes with offering the effective and convenient option of streaming video clips.

Can You Download Live Streaming Video?

The sad truth is that there is no way to download live streaming videos. Many people are disappointed when they learn this, especially since there are so many places that will offer live streaming videos to individuals. Sometimes, there are websites that will require a fee from members in order for them to view the videos that the site has to offer, but they will offer streaming videos on the website. Many people may think that they can download live streaming video clips, but this is a misconception. Live Streaming video is not a medium. Rather, the medium is the video, but the method of how the video is offered to the general public is streaming. Streaming is something that is constantly being offered or played for anyone to view. Television stations that are on twenty four hours a day are streaming. Just because you turn your television on during the day does not mean you are recording, or downloading, the video. That is how live streaming video works, and why the ability to download streaming video does not work.

However, there is an alternative solution to the problem people may be having when they want to download streaming video. There is software that they can purchase of download which would allow them to save the video or videos that they are seeing, which can save them money in the long run, especially if the individual is paying for a website that only offer streaming videos and they understand that they cannot ever actually download streaming video clips.

Sometimes images are just more powerful than words...

Many different websites will offer streaming videos, and others will offer videos of other types that you can actually download. However, these are not streaming videos and they will take longer to start up. This is because the information has to load before it can play, when the video is a download. However, when the video is a streaming video it starts right away and is connected immediately to the origin point. If a person is setting up their own website with videos on it, it will be very important that they know that they cannot offer to their customers that they would be able to download streaming video clips off of the website. This cannot be done and customers will be less likely to go to the site if that claim is made, since it is not possible and this will likely drive experienced website users away. However, streaming videos have their own benefits and are very quick and effective.

These benefits can be played up since they are very advantageous to a lot of people that are looking for effective and efficient videos from websites. Offering videos is often very nice for people that are looking for different mediums besides the written work on the internet through which they can learn information. The exchange of information is sometimes done faster through video, and the result can be that there is more of a connection between the individual and the topic in the story that they are learning about in the video, versus if it was written out. Sometimes images are just more powerful than words...

How to get Streaming Video on Your Cell Phone

More and more people have cell phones. Over the last 20 years, these phones have helped to enable many people to conveniently and effectively stay in contact with other individuals. This is especially handy when the individual is going away and will not be at a landline phone in order to receive phone calls. Instead, individuals can easily rely on cell phones to help them keep in touch with others. As the cell phone has been evolving and progressing, different aspects have begun to change and technology has more thoroughly embraced the cell phone.

As a result, we are now capable to do many different things with our cell phones, especially when they are compared to the first cell phones that were developed. One of the most popular forms today is to be able to offer individuals computer like capabilities on their cell phones. When it comes to computers, one of the most popular aspects would be the internet, which many people use for both personal and professional reasons. As a result, many people are actually capable of using their cell phones as a personal computer in order to access the internet if they need to.

From here, an individual can access some of the many different websites that are dedicated to broadcasting streaming video clips. It is not difficult to understand how to get streaming video on your cell phone, for the most part the individual merely needs to have the ability to get connected to a particular server in order to access the video file that is being broadcast from the server.

More On Streaming Video Enabled Cell Phones

It is important when individuals that are using a cell phone make sure that they have a connection to the internet, since this will be their means to accessing the information. Also, without downloading a person keeps more space on their cell phone in order to store different things as opposed to videos, including music, ring tones and other interesting bits of information and entertainment.

Cell phones have a number of different models and capabilities, and not all will be able to offer streaming videos. This is not a reflection of the individual or the phone company. It merely means that the cell phone does not currently have the capability to connect to the internet. In most cases, this can be resolved by looking into how to upgrade the cell phone or purchasing a new cell phone that would be able to play streaming videos for the individual automatically. No matter what type of situation the individual is in, without being connected to the internet, it will not be possible to see streaming video clips, and this is because the cell phone needs to connect with a server before it is able to play the streaming videos. The server is the device that will be sending out the signal for the video, which the cell phone or computer will lock on to in order to allow the individual to watch or learn from the specific video clip on the internet.

Why streaming video on blogs is popular

One may have noticed that recently it became very popular for individuals to post streaming videos on their blogs or online journals. Some people may have asked themselves why streaming video on blogs is popular, and the answer to this can be fairly in depth. First of all, the purpose of a blog is to share information with one's self or others. Most people that are going to be using a computer are fairly literate, but in some cases the individuals are not. When they come to a blog, they can get some of the information from the video and still be able to have a more dependable grasp on the concept, as opposed to not being able to view the video or read the blog. Secondly, many people do not have time during their busy day to commit to reading. It is not very easy to read something, and perform other actions at the same time.

However, many people will notice that we are able to watch television and do other things at the same time. The same is true when it comes to viewing streaming videos on blogs. Whether the individual is just doing other things on the computer, or they are actually away from the computer but watching the video as if it were the television, the individual that is doing the viewing is able to multi-task in a way that they would be unable to do without the video on the blog. This simply helps to smooth out a person's life so that they can do other things at the same time, should the individual be in a hurry or want to multi-task.

Streaming Video Commercials - Hmm, are those for me?

Have you ever wondered why streaming video on blogs is so popular?

Some people do not read as fast as others. However, we all view things at the same speed. When an individual is not able to read something quickly, they may not be as inclined to work on reading a blog that they may otherwise be interested in reading. In order to make up for this, many people will post streaming videos on their blog sites in order to capture the attention of an individual that may be either viewing the videos on the blog or reading the blog itself. If a person sees a video that they are interested in, they may be more likely to read the blog that coincides with it, even if they are a slow reader, because of the fact that they enjoyed the video. However, this may not be as true of the individual that does not have a video to help pull them in to the blog itself.

A person may merely skim the blog or skip it entirely. We are in an age of constantly moving, and unless a person makes a conscious effort to stop and observe something, they are not as inclined to do so. When people wonder why streaming video on blogs is popular, they really only need to look at the many ways in which the individuals involved are able to prosper both by viewing the video and by posting the video.

Podcast, Video Podcast, Videocast, Vodcast: tap into the technology!

The initial appeal of 'podcasting' was for individuals to distribute their own radio shows. However, the times are changing. In lecture theaters around the world it wouldn't be surprising to see the sign 'Recording in Progress'. Many professors are starting to tap into the technology that their students are comfortable with, such as MP3 players. When you see a student sitting at a bus-stop with earphones stuck in their ears, they might just be revising for a test rather than listening to the Black Eyed Peas.

While some podcasters make files available for direct downloading or in a streaming format from a website, podcasting itself involves more than this. Files are made available using 'push technology'. The publisher selects which files to make available in a feed, while the subscriber chooses which feed channels should be automatically downloaded when there is an update. There are various systems to make this process easier. A large number of universities use the 'iTunes U' for storing and distributing their educational content.

No doubt many educators expect that students will download the files and listen to them from their portable devices. However, research suggests that most are consumed on the PC they are downloaded to (or even deleted without ever being listened to). One student noted that his iPod was for leisure and didn't want to use it for study or work purposes.

In addition to audio podcasts, some academics are experimenting with video podcasting - sometimes shortened to videocasting or vodcasting. For both audio and video a large advantage is being able to access the content on demand.

Apart from recorded lecturers, innovative teachers are making use of podcasts in a variety of ways.

These include:

- interviews with guest experts
- news and updates
- supplementary resources (eg. music, speeches)
- language lessons
- student presentations

As well as student use, many universities are also making use of the technology to provide on-demand, just-in-time professional development.

One of the greatest advantages to podcasting is that it allows time-shifting. That is, students can listen at times that are convenient for them. In addition, it can also be mobile so students can listen at places that are convenient as well. Some might listen while they are in a quiet place such as the library, while others might prefer to do so while commuting or walking across campus.

As with any technology-based teaching we need to be careful not to assume that the teaching will be more effective because of the technology. However, with proper research and evaluation best practice for the use of podcasting in education will emerge.
