Adventure Never Tasted So Good!
How trying new foods can be a huge adventure.

Trying exotic foods can certainly make you feel adventurous. Try going to a new restaurant or making them at home. You might even find a new favorite!
1) Sushi
There's always something new to try with sushi. This culinary delight can be eaten by carnivores and vegetarians alike. If this is an old favorites then try making it yourself. If you need to ease into sushi, you might try another Japanese meal such as Udon that seems more familiar and a bite of sushi off a friends plate. Like rolls, but never tried sushimi? Todays the day to order something new!
2) Authentic Mexican
We're all familiar with taco's and burritos, but there are other choices out there. Mexican cuisine includes soups, sandwiches, salads and other entree's you may have never heard of. Some of your favorites may be made with different ingredients as well. Your burritos may be topped with mole (pronounced mole-and a long a sound), a delicious brown sauce made with up to 23 ingredients including chocolate. If your feeling even more adventurous try your taco with lengue, better known at cow's tongue. You can also take a mini vacation by taking advantage of nights at your favorite restaurants when mariachi bands or traditional dancers perform.
3)Thai Food
With it's use of fruits, lots of spices and lots of heat, thai food is an escape from the norm of American foods. Try their many types of soups, noodle dishes and curries. Many of the dishes are meant to be shared so this is excellent cuisine to try with a friend. You may also try a sate where the meat comes to your table raw and you grill it over a flame at your table. This is also an excellent opportunity to experience the culture of Thailand since many of the restaurants include traditionally dressed Thai dancers to enhance your dining experience.
4) Food Festivals
Those of us that live in the southern United States have no shortage of these. Food Festivals are a great opportunity to try some pretty extraordinary recipes. Ever had peach pizza? How about watermelon soup? See what I mean. You could also participate in some festivals, such as entering a chili cook off. You may not win or even place, but it's about gettiing out there and experiencing something new.
5) Caribbean Food
Places such as Puerto Rico, Cuba and Jamaica all have their own delicious dishes. With flavors of coconut, pineapple and mango these spicy sweet dishes are highly enticing. fried plantains and empanadas are popular dishes to try. Experament at home with cuisine too cause it's fairly easy to make.
6) Middle Eastern/ Indian
The Middle East and India itself are such expansive areas that there is a wealth of food to try. Lebonese, Egyption and Kosher foods are all vastly different. Indian food is super flavorful and can be quite spicy (I recommend a mango lasse, a sweet yogurt based drink, to cool your tongue). Such areas of the world offer cultural experiences many don't have much knowledge of as well. Belly dancers are popular in many of these areas. In many of the Indian restaurants you can experience their traditional dances and Bollywood video.
Attention Single People!!!

This is an EXCELLENT opportunity to meet people. Best of all you'll meet people that are interested in the same things you are. When I did my first week long challenge I met all kinds of people. I would tell people what I was doing and ask for suggestions on what they had done that I could do. People love to help people, but they really love to talk about themselves and you give them an opportunity to do both at the same time! This also broadens your horizons for when you meet people later. You can tell them about things you've done and relate to people that have done similar things.

- Great lens. These are neat ideas because like you say they are recession proof. Something new we have done was to day trip to places the food network has reported on and stop at different places along the way. Thank-you for your tips.
