It pleases me that people are encouraging their children with a gift like this to take an interest in nature. Blessed and added to The Best Insect Webpages on Squidoo lens.

Cool lens. I think I'll buy one soon so my bird has something to watch while I'm at work!

Thanks for a lovely lens - we managed to spot 28 species of butterfly in our garden, a couple of years back. The work put into preparing the correct environment for them really pays off. Thanks for the very informative lens.

How do I know if I didn't remove the catapillars to soon. They were on the top hanging, so I made a fresh rose pedal garden with leaves and placethe catapillars in the fresh garden I made them. I do not know if I should have waited for them to grow more of a cacoon ??
They are laying in the leaves and rose peddles in the habitat. Will they be ok ??

I honestly can't answer that because I have never moved the cocoons. What I will say though is that animals have to be resilient in nature to survive so chances are good that if you leave them be you will have beautiful butterflies when they are ready to emerge.

Actually, you need to move the cuccoons after a day they make it. Just wait for a couple of days and voila! There you go! Your own butterflies. :)

Butterflies also help us understand the interaction of plants with other organisms.
Butterfly watching also offers us an escape. Watching butterflies is an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature at her best. This is a pretty awesome thing watching caterpillars become chrysalis and then hatch into butterflies.I really enjoyed reading about live butterfly garden on your page. This is interesting stuff to consider buying for the kids.Well done.
