Manchester united: An amazing story about the real Champ's

Did you know? It seems almost like a poetic justice that 10 years after the Munich Air Disaster, Manchester united got a well earned closer and won the champions league cup at Wembley stadium.

On the Sixth of February 1958, Manchester united experienced one of the most tragic events in world sports, losing eight of its players, three stuff members and another 12 of it's funs on a horrific airplane crash. The Team was on the way home from Yugoslavia, after scoring a tie 3:3, playing against the Red Star Belgrade on the European Cup. A score that granted the team with a ticket to the semi finales that year.
On the way back from Belgrade, the Plane took an Intermediate stop in Munich for refueling, with the intention to take- off again to England once it's done. After refueling, the weather got worst and a heavy snow covered the runway. The pilot wouldn't give up and made several attempts to take off. On the third attempt, the airplane could not rise and hit a fence on the end of the runway, crashing its wing into a house, destroying it completely.
44 passengers were on board of the aircraft at the time of the accident, 21 of them survived (among them Bobby Charlton), and 23 were killed. It took Manchester United ten years to recover from this tragedy. During this time the team managers managed to rebuild a strong team to compete again and finally win the Champions league cup at the Wembley stadium in 1968. The game was between Manchester united and Benfica Lisbon from Portugal. After 90 minutes of game, the results were 1:1. On the very stressful over time, Manchester gave an amazing show; 3 Goals in 5 minutes. Starting with George Best that gave a show at minute 94' and scored the first goal, then Brian Kidd that scored the second at minute 95' and Bobby Charlton that scored the last goal at minute 99'.

1985 Tragedy in the Champions League

Liverpool and Juventus

The championship is not without its tragic incidents. In 1985 just before the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus (Turin), violent riots erupted resulting in the death of 39 people and More than 400 injured when a wall collapsed in the Brussels Heysel stadium.
The horrific event occurred when Liverpool fans charged toward Juventus supporters, causing a wall of the stadium to collapse. Following the tragedy, the Football Association banned English Clubs from playing in Europe for few years. The clubs included Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, and Norwich City. The ban was ultimately lifted in 1990.
Fortunately, violence has now been eliminated almost completely from the football field, largely because of closed circuit television, segregation of rival fans and ban on alcohol.

Nothing, literally nothing beats the Champions League for me. It has the best games, the biggest stars and my favourite players. Saw United lose easily to Barca, shame that. I did see United Chelsea Q?F too, and they destroyed Chelsea in my view. the I was staying in a hotel near Old Trafford, and I couldn't sleep at night there was so much noise!
