    Laugh! Indeed.

I had the swine flu back in 2009. Followed by multiple disasters, including repeated lung infections.

Now my immune system is growing stronger - thanks for hints to continue strengthening me!

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger!" :-)

    blessings,

Mild, but always good to take steps to prevent! RSV seems to be high in certain areas this year...

Yeah, glad that this pandemic is behind us now, but the important thing is to embrace healthy living as a lifestyle and get proper nutrition in our diets and couple that with moderate exercise. Thanks for stopping by my friend!

ugh...flashback to a very scary time...this was all going on while I was undergoing chemo...with 2 little kids...I was very scared. The washing your hands tip is the best for the spread of so many germs and virus'. I'm always disinfecting door nobs, keyboards, light switches...did you know that our keyboards have more germs than toilet seats! ugh!
  • ajgodinho Mar 18, 2011 @ 8:50 am | delete
Yeah, it was a scary time, eh? Glad we got past that ~ it was kinda overplayed by the media as well, to some extent. Keyboards and toilet seats...that's disturbing, for sure...I'm a fanatic for cleaning my keyboard several times a day! :)

No one of my clients did flue shots last flue-hysteria-season (I always recommend to stay away from it!) and no one got sick. Why it's not surprising at all? :)

Quick tip foreclecticeducation and other the diabetic people - increase your vitamin D3 intake, depend on your geographic location though. Consult with your health care practitioner who does'nt recommend flu shots about it, but minimum you want to get is 50,000 IU/week.
  • eclecticeducation Oct 6, 2010 @ 11:15 pm | delete
Great information!!! I've had a hard time deciding what to do about the flu shot this year. I am diabetic, so it is very dangerous for me if I get the flu. On the other hand, one of the European countries has banned the Swine flu shot because it has been linked to an increased risk of developing Narcolepsy (a neurological disorder that makes you fall asleep a lot). I have a family history of Narcolepsy and watched my Grandfather suffer from it when I was a child, so I am leaning against getting the shot, so I need all of the advise I can get on avoiding the flu! I am trying very hard to build my immune system up before winter starts.

I agree AJ, concern and following basic precautions is the absolute way to go, too often we see panic based on total misinformation. Sometimes people just have to take a step back and breath. - Well done! - Kathy

Last year, my doctor said he thought I had the Swine Flu -- I was ill for about one month. After that, I got the swine flu shot and later got the regular flu shot. And, I've got my paperwork ready to get a flu shot any day now. Most important information!

Well good morning my dear -- ah I am up early not by intention but rather the neighbor left his house light on last night which shines like a BRIGHT beacon in my bedroom window. Ah! Just wanted to tell you that I went to Walgreens yesterday and got that flu shot -- I think it cost $29.99 -- my insurance doesn't pay for it. But, the pharmacist said it is a combo shot this year so I should be protected from Swine Flu too!
  • ajgodinho Sep 22, 2010 @ 8:13 am | delete
Hello Julie, great to hear from you! Looks like you didn't need an alarm clock to wake you up this morning. I was up earlier than usual today as well. Well, I'm glad you're taking precautions with regards to the flu season. I've been fortunate not to get the flu for the past 2+ years now since I made some significant lifestyle changes concerning healthy living. I've avoided taking the flu shot and now just focus on getting adequate and quality nutrition, and some exercise. I wish you good health and blessings this flu season...take care! :)

This is an excellent lens about protecting yourself from the swine (H1N1) flu. You have done a beautiful job with the layout of this page, and you have also provided the reader with many terrific resources and information about the swine flu. I appreciate the time and research that went into creating this page. Very nicely done; five stars and lensrolled to: H1N1 Vaccine Recall

not very concerned about this swine flu. More concerned about the so called vaccine for the flu. The vaccine scares me more than the swine flu!

This is excellent information. My grandparents parents died in the last flu pandemic. . .and, they were both physicians. I don't think you can know too much - our family has always practiced prevention. Good job!!
