ECOFRIENDLY ORGANIC PRODUCTS FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING
What is global warming?
Global warming is the term used to describe the effect of climate changes that are taking place in the Earth's ecosystem. The primary reason why global warming exists today can be linked to industry and technology sectors that mass-produce waste and pollution. On a personal note, we impact the environment by filling landfills, dumping waste products in lakes and streams, and using non-recyclable materials and goods.
We put out toxic fumes and gases that all lead to dangerous omissions from our cars, power plants, engines and factories. As a result, these have had an impact on the earth, causing an imbalance in our Earth's atmosphere. In particular carbon emissions can and do have a devastating effect on nature. Although electricity and technology are necessary for most lifestyles. The side effects of excessive usage and toxic wastes build up are leading to dangerous and serious problems worldwide.
OUR CARBON FOOT PRINT:
Reports from stop global warming.org state that the United States is responsible for 22% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions. Common sense tells us, that this means we are using a considerable amount of the worlds resources. This is especially harmful to the natural forests, animals, and even the villages and farms where the weather an important part of daily living. Disastrous and catastrophic weather patterns including severe floods, hurricanes, earthquakes can be linked to global warming in the imbalances and shifts in the Earth's environment.
FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING:
At press time efforts to combat tackle global warming are becoming more and more acceptable than ever before. You may have already come across many eco-friendly products, projects, and ideas. Many scientists and researchers are developing new ways for us to obtain energy. Renewable energy sources are becoming valuable to a variety of industries including automobile manufacturers, natural foods, and computers. Hybrid cars are one of the ways to reduce our carbon footprint as time passes by. Producing our own renewable energy sources for our homes, like windmills or solar energy panels would have a major positive affect.
7 WAYS TO HELP THE EARTH IN 7 DAYS
Chip Griller of Environmental Magazine grist.org offers a seven-day plan for reducing your family's energy consumption by nearly 10%.Monday- turn down your thermostat just 2°. This will cut your energy bill by 10%. Try turning it lower when you're sleeping or out of the house, bring it back up when you return home or rise in the morning.
Tuesday- most people don't know this, but leaving items plugged-in even when not in use is burning energy. Unplug all unused electronic devices and appliances. We Americans waste $1 billion a year powering items like televisions and DVD players while they are turned off. So try unplugging your microwaves, DVD players and cell phone chargers when you aren't using them.
Wednesday- do your laundry in cold water. 90% of the energy used to wash clothes goes to the heating of water. Washing in cold water is a simple and easy way to reduce your energy use dramatically.
Thursday- eat less meat! You probably would be surprised to find out that 18% of human generated greenhouse gas emissions come from the livestock industry. You don't have to become a vegetarian, just try to have one meat free day in your week. If every American did this, it would reduce emissions by as much as removing 8 million cars from the roads.
Friday- carpooling or riding your bike. Vehicles consume half of the world's oil, and emit a quarter of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. By parking your car just one day a week over a years time you will save gas and emissions. Also keep your tires inflated properly, under inflated tires can reduce your gas mileage by 5%.
Saturday- its home-improvement day. Pick one small project to do around the house that can save energy. This may include changing your light bulbs to energy-saving fluorescent. These use approximately 1/5 the energy and last 12 times longer. Or maybe you could install a low flow shower head, and turn your water heater down to 120° and insulate your tank.
Sunday- write a letter. Sometimes the best thing you can do to help with the climate control issues is to write a letter to the business and political leaders who care about these issues. Let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and encourage them to do more.

Wind and Solar Energy The Alternate Power Sources

Alternate energy sources are a fact of life and will be reality in the future. Wind and solar power are atainable now for the average Joe. We can go green and generate our own electricy and store it or get some of our money back for our local power company.
My last two no three electricty bills from Progress Energy were well over $300.00, I can think of much better things to do with that money. No the trick is getting my husband to build me a windmill so we can get started. We have been looking at 2 different website systems and have almost decided to make the leap.
Our first choice is Earth 4 Energy - Renewable Energy Solutions
Our second Choice is Home Made Energy
Of course I would rather try the windmill as wind power has been being used dating back before the Vikings. No will still use the wind for sailing, wind surfing, wind gliding and so on. Of course these are all recreational. So why not put this power to really good use and keep our money back in our pockets.
Think about this... if you could generate enough wing power to run your washer and dryer how much money would you save. For me it would be alot I have 8 people in my house.
Or what about this generating enough wind power to run your centeral heat and air system. Can you say Cha Ching.
During my research I came across this explanition:
"About 1 t0 3% of solar energy reaching the Earth is converted into wind energy. That may not sound like a lot but given the enormous amounts of energy coming from the sun it is.
Wind energy is still 50 to 100 times greater than the solar energy converted by all the Earth's vegetation into biomass through photosynthesis.
The sun's energy in interaction with the Earth's surfaces creates the winds and as long as the sun is up there, wind is a renewable energy source."
So I ask this question why aren't we all going green and putting wind or solar energy to use. Not only do we help the planet, but we help ourselves with a monetary gain.

- Excellent lens Robin. There is so much we can do as individuals to help our world and save her. I believe solar and wind energy are very important. I would like to see more solar, especially in my sunny state, California. My husband was involved in selling solar in the mid-1980s, he was doing pretty well at it but then the federal government came along and change the tax implications of it and that was that. We could do better if the government didn't ask so much of us tax wise.
Sorry to be so windy.....five stars and a favorite.
