Camelback Mountain In Central PhoenixNamed after the mythical Phoenix bird that rose from ashes, Phoenix, Arizona has risen from the dust of the Sonoran Desert to become one of the major cities of the U. S. Originally home to rattlesnakes, wild horses and coyotes the metropolis is now home to almost 5,000,000 people. Area that was traversed by Apaches and other Native American tribes is now home to cutting edge medical and high tech companies. The city is still home to rattlesnakes, wild horses and coyotes but Phoenix real estate has developed into an oasis of human activity.

With the cities that surround it; including Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, and Tempe, the Phoenix metro area caters to every age bracket and lifestyle. A major revitalization of the downtown area of Phoenix is attracting young professionals with Phoenix real estate centered around new lofts, apartments and condos. A modern light rail system, restaurants to please any palate and lively nightlife round out this living area for modern sophisticates.

The skyline of the high rise office buildings of downtown Phoenix is flanked to the east by Chase Field home of the Major League Baseball team, the Diamondbacks, and the copper dome of the Capital Building to the west. Also, located in downtown Phoenix is the US Airways Center, home of the Phoenix Suns, a National Basketball Association team. The area is also home to several museums including the Heard Museum, which features Native American art and culture.

Phoenix real estate runs the gamut from the quaint adobe home with red clay tile floors to upscale gated communities that feature golf courses and Olympic size swimming pools for their residents. Prospective home buyers will find Phoenix home values very attractive.

Phoenix is a golfer's utopia and homes that back up to a golf course have become a distinctive part of the city landscape. Homes built around golf courses can always be found on the lists of Phoenix homes for sale. Lush verdant green golf courses can wind around mountains or Saguaro cacti. A golfer may have to give the right of way to a pair of adult quail and their brood as they cross in front of the 10th hole.

Man-made lakes have been created in areas for those seeking a water view from their home. Phoenix real estate developers aim to please. Tempe Town Lake is one of the more ambitious projects for creating water front property and amenities. High rise dwellers can enjoy water views from the new condominium developments in or slated for the area.

Tempe is, also, home to Arizona State University, ASU. With college enrollment in excess of 68,000, Tempe is a college town. Although, the area is rich with student housing, quiet neighborhoods provide various housing styles for those who like the college town atmosphere of boutique shops, small specialty eateries and coffee shops. ASU is home to Frank Lloyd Wright's magnificent Gammage Auditorium which features various cultural events including the Broadway Series. Phoenix's new light rail system runs from mid-town Phoenix to Tempe allowing residents to move comfortably and easily between the two cities without the hassle of city traffic.

Horses and their owners are welcome in many locations in the Phoenix metro area. Subdivisions have been built with zoning and enough land to support horses. Exclusive ranch size properties are available for homeowners seeking some wide open space. Ranch style homes are a common feature with room for animals and the ever popular RV.

The theme of the old West still lives in the area and is prevalent in downtown Scottsdale. The area is, also, home to some high-end art galleries, shops and restaurants. Scottsdale sponsors one of the largest Arabian horse shows in the country and the Barrett-Jackson Auction of world class collector cars.

Main thoroughfares in Peoria and Glendale are dotted with the sporadic fields of corn, cotton, flowers or other crops. Across the street new housing developments have taken over what used to be farm land. Small farms share a street with single-family homes that range from multi-level to single level and sporting tile roofs. Nestled in among the historic district of downtown Glendale, are charming Craftsman homes and small cottage type homes where adults sit on porches while children play in the yards.

Glendale is home to The University of Phoenix Stadium and the National Football League team, the Cardinals. The stadium complex offers residents and tourists various venues including eight acres of land that is for the use of tailgaters. Not wanting to be out of the sport limelight, Peoria has built a complex for spring training for the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres.

A major metropolis, Phoenix has everything to offer its residents except snow and blizzards. From the quaint and cozy bungalow to the ultra-modern condominium, Phoenix real estate values have created the perfect buyers' market. Along with attractive prices, the range of Phoenix homes for sale can make choosing the perfect home a pleasant challenge.

I lived there for twelve years before moving east. Oh how I miss the most beautiful sunsets on earth. Thanks for reminding me of what I'm missing.

    kl2534,

The sunsets in Phoenix are usually amazing, especially in the summer Monsoon season, though this we've seen very little in rain and those amazing thunder clouds.
