Why I love Trader Joe's

Do you love to shop at Trader Joe's? Well, I may not be Trader Joe's #1 fan, but I sure do love to shop, cook and eat items from Trader Joe's. I love it so much, that I started a blog Living Trader Joe's that talks about all the great items- both food and wine- recipes, meals ... that we bring home each week from Trader Joe's

The best part about Trader Joe's stores is the folks that work there. Trader Joe's Crewmembers always have a smile on their face and are ready to help you find what you are looking for. The stores are smaller than other grocery stores in the area (thank goodness!) so you can get in and out with your shopping FAST! Shopping (for me) seems also easier- there are fewer choices at Trader Joe's. You want green beans? Here you go! I just love it.

You will love the wine bargins at Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's has fantastic wine deals! Now you might immediately think about "2-buck chuck" but let me assure you there are a wide array of great wines to choose from beyond the 2 buck deal (oh yeah "two-buck chuck" is now $2.99...)

We, for a number of reasons such as being in graduate school... like to purchase wines in the Under $5.99 category and believe it or not, we do rather well on the large selection of $3.99 wines at our local Trader Joe's store. Yes, I know it is rather hard to believe, but we really do find fantastic wine bargains at this store.

Nice Coffee & Tea Selection at Trader Joe's

What a way to start the day...

Trader Joe's has a wonderful coffee and tea selection as well. And the encourage sampling! Each time we shop, we head to the back of the store to see what the daily coffee samples are. OK we check out all the samples too. I am so glad that Trader Joe's samples all there coffee, because many/most /all the coffee that is sold at Trader Joe's is there own label. So you really must sample the coffees to decide which ones your really like.....Yummmmm ( It is one of my favorite parts of shopping at the store Shhh- don't tell!)

Now we must mention the teas as well. Trader Joe's has a lot of them ranging from Irish Breakfast Tea (my favorite in the AM) to some herbal varieties that I also enjoy. They have a wonderful Mint tea that is just lovely.

Go Green at Trader Joe's

Save money and the planet

We just love the fact that Trader Joe's had products that help us save money as well as the planet. These kitchen cloths, for example, are thick and great for all kinds of juicy spills in the kitchen. Now I will admit that I don't use them for any "meat" juices, but when it comes to tomatoes, and other juicy fruits, I find I reach for these kitchen cloths, wipe up my area and rinse and ring. Even damp, I can still use them.

The other item that we just love is ....recycled tissue and toilet paper! The Trader Joe's stuff is not too "scratchy" and the fact that I can use a recycled item make me smile. I mean I am just going to throw it away, right?

WOW! So many options to cook with help from Trader Joe's

We all are busy these days, and here is where Trader Joe's helps us out the most. We can shop quickly and not get distracted by trying to choose between a zillion versions of cheese. But we also can find some great meals that we just need to Heat-and -eat!

The range is just wonderful as well. We have tried dishes that are rice based, noodle based and even polenta based (like the picture). We like to pick up one or two of these items each week just in case we find we are out of time to prepare dinner.

We also pick up salad, lots of fresh (sometimes organic) veggies, crispy -crusted breads etc... For us, Trader Joe's is really a one -stop shop!

Flower and plants oh my!

Does this ever happen to you? You were so busy last night that you did not have time to make something to bring to the lunch meeting. Nor did you have time to make your lunch as well! Yep! this is us. Trader Joe's to the rescue on those days.

The stores are open EARLY (many at 8am) so we like to dash in and get some sandwiches or a small sushi, fruit, drinks it is all there. AND we can also get something to share with everyone at the meeting, and a plant for the office as well.
