The Living Dead Series

Night of the Living Dead (1968) is the first movie in what is known as the 'Living Dead' series by George A. Romero.

The original film was shot in 1968 in black-and-white and has grossed $12 million domestically and $30 million internationally.
Like the films in the series to follow, Romero introduces his signature social commentary while dealing with the horror the film revolves around.

The film has been remade twice; Night of the Living Dead (1990) & Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006).

Dawn of the Dead (1978) is the second movie in what is known as the 'Living Dead' series by George A. Romero.
It may have took Romero 10 years for this followup but it was not in vain as this is my and many others favorite of the series.
While this movie is the 2nd in the series it does not have any carry-forward characters from the first.
Like Night of the Living Dead (1968) that came before it, this was another zombie film made cheap (< $1,000,000) that has gone on to have have big financial success.

The film has been remade once; Dawn of the Dead (2004).

Day of the Dead (1985) is the third movie in what is known as the 'Living Dead' series by George A. Romero.
Romero had visions of making this third film something of a big budget zombie movie but artistic and budget disputes caused the funding to be slashed and the story rewritten. This film is more dialogue heavy then the previous two films in the series; Night of the Living Dead (1968) & Dawn of the Dead (1978). This departure from the previous films is what has caused its reviews to fall below the prior two. This film has the distinction of introducing the first talking zombie in the 'living dead' series who goes by the name 'Bub'.

The film has been remade once; Day of the Dead (2008).

Land of the Dead (2005) is the fourth movie in what is known as the 'Living Dead' series by George A. Romero.

This was the first movie in the 'Living Dead' series to use digital effects and the budget for the film was Romero's biggest yet. The zombies in this film are also the most evolved of the series, working together, using weapons and communicating with each other (with grunts of course :p).

Due to the fact that this movie is less than 10 years old it has yet to be remade but if the previous films in the series are any indication, it is only a matter of time.

Diary of the Dead (2007) is the fifth movie in what is known as the 'Living Dead' series by George A. Romero.

This film is a departure from the previous 'Living Dead' installments as it is all shot from a first-person perspective (think The Blair Witch Project (1999)). This film also has the distinction of being the first in the series not to turn a profit, in fact, the revenue on this film only covered about half the budget! It's surprising how much further an extra $5,000,000 can go when you compare the look of this film to the previous installment Land of the Dead (2005).

There is not a lot of info on this movie yet let alone a title for it but I was able to find a few things.

Plot

On an island off the coast of North America, local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while hoping for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state.

"It's mainly about tribalism, which I think is what is screwing the world up - tribalism, nationalism, religion -people taking sides. All of my zombie films have had a little touch of that, but this is specifically about it. It's about a feud, a long standing feud between these two old guys on an island, where it should be safe and it's away from most of the chaos that's happening on the mainland. But these two old guys can't stop shooting at each other and that's more important - the feud is more important to them than trying to address the crisis." It's any of these wars that are based on old standing rivalries, whether they're religious, political, family, whatever. It's specifically about that."
