LIVING DEAD DOLLS: Back from the grave... Again!

Tiny hands erupt from forgotten earth, tearing weeds and dry soil aside, grasping at a world inhabited by the living. Little eyes open again, staring at a world changed by the ravages of time, and reanimated limbs march towards the realms of the warm, living people that they must feast upon...

MEZCO's infamous line of undead dolls has returned once again with the fifteenth set of chilling infants, just in time for the tenth anniversary of the Living Dead Dolls range.

Unleashed in April 2008, fans are clambering for their latest fix from masters of the macabre (insert flash of lightning and theatrical cackle here) Ed Long & Damien Glonek. For this landmark tenth anniversary of the incredibly popular Living Dead Dolls range (Has it really been ten years? Doesn't time fly when you're being stalked by demonic, undead children?), the manufacturers have outdone themselves once again with an even more unsettling collection of tiny zombies than the last one! Instead of being phazed by the prospect of creating an even better set, the creators dived headlong into the task and have most certainly delivered on their promise. It must be getting pretty difficult to come up with range after unholy range of malevolent miscreants, but to the delight of fans worldwide they keep on coming. People all over the planet love the demonic sprogs, and the Living Dead Dolls themselves are consistently cool items to display in any crypt, lair or casket.

Apparently being unleashed upon the public in April 2008, the latest line of Living Dead Dolls coffin-bound kiddies contains: Judas, Countess Bathory, Death, Flamingo, and Gypsy. Death and Bathory? That aside, the inclusion of little Death and Countess Bathory is just the coup the LDD creators needed to make this set special. Granted, the dolls are all excellent, but there did have to be something unique about this set, and comes in the form of a little Reaper (every home needs a cute little Death doesn't it?) and Erzibet in miniature form. They are still packed with their own death certificates in their individual coffin boxes, these are cute and chaotic in equal measure. I mean, could you seriously picture getting much sleep with one of these beasts staring at you from your shelf? There's more about Living Dead Dolls on this page.

As ever, the workmanship is immaculate. The sculpts are first rate, especially on the Death doll, and the fabric costumes boast a high standard that has been noticeably improving over the last few sets of dolls. All in all, this is an exciting release, and a little different to the usual Living Dead Dolls set, which is just the right thing to celebrate the tenth anniversary. Here's to the next ten years of scaring the wits out of friends and family members all over the world!

Plus, if fans collect all five dolls, they'll find a little extra in there with them: Put all five extra pieces together to form the 'Talking board' accessory, essentially a Living Dead Dolls themed Ouija Board. How very appropriate, and the perfect thing to go alongside this awesome latest set of dolls. The Living Dead Dolls range may have its imitators, but they are yet to match this level of quality.

As predicted, the fifteenth set of LIVING DEAD DOLLS figures has proven to be a hit. In fact, this new set is the most popular range of dolls since the legendary series 7 (the 7 Sins set), and in particular the 'Death' figure is proving to be incredibly popular. The hype has been justified, and the creators really have delivered something special for this anniversary set. The future of the Living Dead Dolls is looking very bright... or rather, even darker...

LIVING DEAD DOLLS... THE BEGINNING

How they crawled out of their graves and onto your shelves!

The Living Dead Dolls range first erupted onto hobby shop shelves in 2000, after being available at horror conventions and suchlike since the heady days of 1998. These demonic cherubs were created by Ed Long and Damien Glonek, and were originally sold through their own horror mail order company. Toy giant MEZCO picked the range up after coming across them at one of those conventions, and saw fit to subject the world to these tiny terrors. Now, the dolls are an incredibly popular part of the gothic/horror subculture, having dominated the market for cute dead things ever since their inception.

To this day, fifteen sets of dolls into the range's existence, the figures are individually designed by Ed and Damien. Mezco pride themselves on the level of dedication that goes into the creation and production of each doll, with their fabric costumes becoming ever more elaborate and well made, and their visages becoming ever more chilling.

A whole new scene built up around the Living Dead Dolls, giving rise to the Living Dead Dollies from Mezco, plus other companies' takes on the phenomenon in the shapes of the Bleeding Edge Goths, Krypt Kiddies and Little Apple Dolls, and suchlike. While these imitators have all had their merits, it is the original LIVING DEAD DOLLS range that continues to thrill its fanbase with each successive set of unsettling dolls.

There has been talk of a LIVING DEAD DOLLS independent feature film in the past few years, but nothing has progressed on this front. This is a shame, as it would be an awesome thing to see onscreen, and it'd be great to see a new series of movies in the vein of PUPPET MASTER, as opposed to the increasingly shoddy CHILD's PLAY/CHUCKY films.
