Toronto is a great city to visit.  In fact, I first saw it on my
honeymoon in 1998.  Years later, my husband got a job here and we
were able to live here.  I was thrilled.

It's hard to get
adjusted in a new city, and I had to stay behind in California to sell
our house.  So I did a lot of online research before getting
there, which helped me to get aquainted with my new city before I could
spend a lot of time there.  In this lens I'll share with you the
resources that helped me both in relocating and living here.

Helpful Toronto Sites

Toronto LiveJournal Community
This is a great place to get information from real people. LiveJournal is a blogging site where people have individual accounts and also participate in communities. You do not need a LiveJournal account to read, but you do need one to ask questions to the group. Accounts are free. There are many other Toronto themed groups on LiveJournal, just do a search for Toronto.
Toronto Public Library
Toronto has an awesome library system. You can search for books and request them to be sent to your local branch of the library. There's also a lot of programs for kids, some classes, author readings. I've found the librarians really nice and helpful too.
Toronto Life Magazine
Reviews, listings and articles on Toronto's restaurants, stores, theatre and arts communities, bars and clubs. Includes guides on golf courses, getaways and hotels, shopping, restaurants, fitness, wine, food, kids, fashion, home decor and more.

The Toronto Transit Commission - TTC
I love Toronto's transit system. Yes, lots of people complain about it. I've lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. The TTC is better than the transit in all those places combined.

Cameras that let you check the traffic on your route.
Spacing Wire
The Spacing Wire is a hub for news, events and projects about public space issues in Toronto and from around the world.
Toronto Brunch Restaurant Reviews
It's not just brunch, now includes all meals. Restaurant reviews by Mark, Aaron, and Wendy, who seem to be just three people who like to eat at restaurants and review them. It's my favourite restaurant review page because they review the kind of restaurants I eat at, mostly inexpensive-moderate places with charecter. It's kind of like getting the lowdown on a restaurant from a friend as opposed to a more formal professional review.
Danforth Bowl, a cool old fashioned five pin bowling alley
Bowling alley from the 1950s, still opperating with a lot of the original equipment and still owned by the same family. Located at the Corner of Danforth & Coxwell.
