Living Daily with Type 1 Diabetes
This is a place where you hear the truth about living life with Type 1 Diabetes, not just the "how you'd like it to be" stuff which you can get elsewhere. This is where we talk about the actualities of it, the hurdles and obstacles, as well as the enjoyable side of life with this condition.
Type 1 Diabetes is tricky, bemusing, unfair, and constantly changing, even though at times some attitudes are stuck in the past. As we grow older, we carry this condition with us, so we'd better learn what sort of a companion it's going to be. Sometimes we don't even know it's there, but at other times it can be downright uncooperative. This is where I believe we can learn about it by talking to each other and sharing our experiences, thoughts, opinions and emotions. No matter where you are in the world, feelings are very similar about this unwanted condition - no, you didn't eat too many sweet things as a child, and no, it really is NOT YOUR FAULT, even if you feel blamed (either by self or others - including medics and family) for having it.
In 2004 my first book "LIVING LIFE WITH DIABETES" was published and dealt with Type 1 Diabetes in a way in which it didn't seem to have been dealt with before - honestly, and from the inside out, not from some observer who writes about how ideally it should behave under laboratory conditions - which, of course, is not how life is lived. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
