Living Water

Living Water is from the Bible, John 4:4-26

Now he [Jesus] had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?"

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."

He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back."

"I have no husband," she replied.
Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true."

"Sir," the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem."

Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth."

The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he."

Jesus also offers us living water.

We can drink and he will satisfy our thirst.

Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up

A new look at today's Evangelical Church in the light of early Christianity

Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up: A New Look at Today's Evangelical Church in the Light of Early Christianity

Amazon Price: $5.55 (as of 06/02/2012)Buy Now

"This...is a great introduction to the Early Chuch Fathers and what they believed. In the process of reading this book, the reader will see that NONE of the Early Church believed in ANY of the five points of modern-day Calvinism."
Amazon reviewer Kerrigan Skelley

"The church today simply does not believe what Jesus taught. The early church did and we have their writings as evidence of what they believed and accomplished."
Amazon reviewer J. R. Neumiller

"Read Bercot's book to enhance your journey of discovering what the apostles actually taught. As the title indicates, you may find your own theological paradigms lacking in solid Scriptural and historical support."
Amazon reviewer Patrick E. Lavey

Lost Christianities: The Battles For Scripture And The Faiths We Never Knew

by Bart D. Ehrman

Lost Christianities: The Battles for Scripture and the Faiths We Never Knew

Amazon Price: $8.00 (as of 06/02/2012)Buy Now

"Ehrman examines a wide diversity of early Christian texts and the various belief systems they represent. The primary purpose of this book is to shed light on the early Christian writings that came to be 'rejected, attacked, suppressed, and destroyed.'"
Amazon reviewer Ry O. Parrish-Siggelkow

"No anti-Conservative agenda, only balanced scholarship."
Amazon reviewer Peter D. Glickenhaus

"Ehrman describes the fights, mudslinging, and backstabbing that early Christians so zealously engaged in to arrive at the orthodoxy we know today...in a very well-rounded way [presenting] a clear picture of why Gnosticism lost out to Orthodoxy."
Amazon reviewer William Bramley

Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity

by Edward Gilbreath

Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity

Amazon Price: $16.00 (as of 06/02/2012)Buy Now

"Edward Gilbreath is editor at large for Christianity Today and editor of Today's Christian. These are two mainstream evangelical publications, placing Gilbreath firmly in the evangelical camp.
In America, evangelicals are predominantly white but Gilbreath is black. That status as a black evangelical gives Gilbreath a unique angle of vision, which he writes about in Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity."

Top 1000 Amazon reviewer George P. Wood

"My black friends are responding that this book says exactly how they feel toward the white evangelical church. My white friends are starting to get why this is still an issue.
This book is a must-read for people on both sides of the equation who care about making the Church truly reconciled."

Amazon reviewer J. Denton

"Without a hint of cynicism, Gilbreath challenges the evangelical church, of which he is an active part, to look at history and learn; to look at the present and change; to look toward the future and grow. The tone is decidedly redemptive, and by the end, you'll be hoping and praying for change in your own heart and church."
Amazon reviewer Robyn Whitlock
