Lladro Mermaid "Illusion"
is the ideal gift for someone who enjoys anything nautical, whether it's as down to earth as boating or simply immersing themselves in nautical tales of the deep. Even, in fact, if that special someone just really appreciates beautiful sculptures that will increase in value over time.To me, "Illusion" is the loveliest of all the Lladro mermaids, with her classic Lladro coloring, a lovely band of flowers holding back her hair as it cascades behind her, just the way it really would beneath the sea, of course.
I gave this as a birthday gift to a friend because, although western horoscopes say she's a Pisces, I felt that the horoscope sign of two fish didn't do her justice. She was positively ecstatic over her gift.
I think it's especially important, when choosing a gift for someone we care for, to try and find something that would have a special meaning for them, and I was so happy to have succeeded!

Her hair is light brown, her lips a sweet, soft pink, and her fin is a delicate shade of lavendar.
The "Illusion" Mermaid by Lladro
was originally issued in 1982, and the sculptor was José Puche.
She is 19x13 cm, or 5 x 3 x 7 1/2 inches high. She's a part of Lladro's Fantasy Collection of Classic Porcelain, and she's absolutely exquisite!

I bought this for my wife just after we had moved into our new home. She was really stressed out about the move, and getting everything set up and just so. I found out from the interior decorator that they had agreed on a nautical theme for one of the full bathrooms, and this seemed to me the perfect little gift. Boy, was I right about that. In my opinion, Lladro's Mermaid "Illusion" is simply the prettiest of all the mermaids. With her flowing hair, demure sweet looks, and that famous combination of soft colors and intricate detailing that have put Lladro at the top of the playing field of porcelain collectibles, she's got it all. For a Lladro piece, the price is very reasonable and she's a continuing source of pleasure to me.
I received "Illusion" as a gift on Mother's Day, and I couldn't be more pleased because I love anything and everything to do with water, whether it's kayaking on my own or reading about seafaring adventures. She's a gorgeous little thing, a real treasure.
