Looking for new people to play games with?

Spielerz.com is a free on-line community for gamers, by gamers. Our goal is to help you spend less time looking for local players, and more time playing your games.

If you play Board Games like Settlers of Catan and Caylus; Role Playing Games (RPG) like D&D, Shadowrun, and Kobolds ate my Baby; Miniatures like Warhammer and Classic Battletech; CCGs like Magic: The Gathering, or Live Action Role Playing Games (LARP) like Vampire: the Masquerade; then Spielerz is for you.

You should join Spielerz, but don't take our word for it

notes and pictures about joining Spielerz from GenCon 2007 attendees

Visitors to the Spielerz booth at GenCon 2007 were asked to draw a picture, write a note or compose a poem (Haiku mostly) about:

1) Why people should join Spielerz
2) What kinds of people they like to game with.
3) The games they like

These are some of our favorites!

What do you look for in a fellow gamer?

Some games are fun no matter who you play with, but let's face it, they are more fun with people you really like. So tell us--what do **you** look for in a gamer?

I love gaming! I enjoy competing and trash-talk with my friends, so they need to be cool and be able to leave stunning betrayals at the table. One major trait I look for is someone who is willing to try new games - maybe they'll love it or not, but just trying new things is a great way to learn.

I play games to have fun, and stretch my skills. So I like gamers who play to win but are also willing to teach, and most importantly to laugh while they play

But there are no other Spielerz in my area!

Spielerz is a brand new site, and while we grow everyday for now you may be the only gamer in your area. If this is the case, go ahead and register so the next person in your city looking for gamers can find you. Then try these options:

Visit your Local Game Store
The primary way gamers (especially RPG players) find each other is still though index cards and flyers posted at their local game store. It's hard to get a read on if you will click with the people you find there, but it's a great place to start. In addition, many of these stores also host gaming events, so find out when people are playing the games you like and check it out.

Visit BoardGame Geek or RPG net
It is still relatively difficult to find other gamers on line but Board Game Geek (for board gamers, minis and card players) and RPG net (for Role-Players--including the live action variety) have lots of members and host forums where threads like "Looking for new players in Anytown, USA" are pretty common.

Try other gamer locater services
Spielerz is growing fast--and we expect it will grow even faster in the next months, but if you need another player right now, you may want to try some of the other "find a gamer" services that have made a go of it over the years. Martin Ralya at Treasure Tables has put together a list of these other services, and has good advice about incorporating new players into your group as well. His focus is primarily on RPG players--but a lot of what he has to say is transferable to other gaming styles.

Finally, there's Meetup.com. Meetup is designed to hook up people with all kinds of interests, but there are some gamers on there in most areas, so if you are looking to start a local group, meetup could help. Please note: Meetup charges a monthly fee to each group. The fee ranges from $12-$19 per month depending on how many months you purchase at a time.
