Our Nostalgia for Log Cabins

The log cabin holds a special place in the history and hearts of the United States. Types of Log Cabin Homes

There are log cabin birdhouses in a variety of styles. You can find some that are quite simple, resembling a single room cabin. From there you can go up in size to some that look more like a mansion than a cabin. And there are some to fit almost anyone's budget. Some are less than ten dollars.

Some of todays log cabin birdhouses are actually made from bamboo. Bamboo bird houses look like traditional log cabins, and you may not even be able to identify one by looking, but have the advantage of being made from a sustainable resource like bamboo.

US Presidents and Log Cabins

There were a total of seven United States Presidents born in log cabins. Of course the most famous of these presidents was Abraham Lincoln. Definition of Hand-Hewn

Every wonder what this means? You always see it with log cabin articles. Here's the definition: hand-hewn - cut or shaped with hard blows of a heavy cutting instrument like an ax or chisel; "a house built of hewn logs";
