Logitech TV Cam review

The Logitech TV Cam is a great looking HD video cam with 720p at 30 frames per second. It's packaged nicely with attached velcro cable tie. It has a 5-foot USB cable, which plugs into the Logitech Revue's USB port and includes also a 6-foot extension cable, if your Revue box is further away. It's easy to connect and setup. Just plug it into the Revue via USB. Once connected, the Logitech Vid HD software pops up and allows you to register! Login and start making calls. If this is your first time, that you use Vid HD software, then it takes less than two minutes to fill out the registration info and you're ready to video calls! I love the remote control zooming in and out and panning back and forth. Logitech's TV cam is fitted with Carl Zeiss optics and uses Logitech Fluid Crystal Technology together with a 78-degree wide-angle lens and two digital, directional microphones that help reduce noise and echoes. In other words! The picture and sound quality is fantastic! HD quality is amazing for a TV cam. I really like the design and build quality of the camera.

First time, we connected with friends on computer (using video chat with Skype and Gmail) and they said it that the colors looked clear and true, like they were watching TV and not a jittery webcam! But image quality is dependent on the speed of your Internet connection. So in order to transmit and receive HD video you'll need at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds. My biggest concern was over privacy issues! Whether or not, i could be invisible to others. So i don't need to be always available. It's really easy to change, like changing your status on your IM account.

But one thing changes for sure! The days that i was stuck in the computer chair and forced to have the family crowd around when we all wanted to be part of the conversation is over. With this Logitech TV cam, you don't have to sit even near your TV to be seen clearly. Now you can sit with you family on couch together and (video) chat. This made the conversations much more relaxed and it was easy to bring people into the conversation that are sometimes more uncomfortable with video chat. I got a feeling, that this will give everyone the chance to communicate in a very relaxing way.

Overall it is very easy to use and is a great addition to any Logitech Revue. I hope other video chat apps will be developed for the Revue soon and the true potential of this great camera can be realized. Logitech TV Cam is a great product. But In some circumstances it could happen, that you'll be suddenly thinking about filling up some empty space on your walls with artwork. So i recommend placing the webcam lower at the bottom of the TV. I really recommend Logitech TV Cam!

The TV Cam comes with two digital, directional microphones to help reduce noise and echoes. And when you use Logitech Vid. HD, you'll send lifelike stereo audio.
