Logitech G500 Mouse

Logitech pioneered the idea of adjusting the weight of a mouse when they released the original G5. Now the G500 carries on the same idea and uses a very similar system.

Some gamers like the feel of a heavy mouse, while others prefer their mouse to be as light as possible, so by adding an adjustable weight system Logitech made the G5 and G500 appeal to a wider range of gamers. It's a feature that a lot of other manufacturers have copied!

On the underneath of the G500 is a slot that holds a removable cartridge. Inside the cartridge are six slots, each of which can hold a single weight or be left empty.

You get a variety of weights with the G500. The largest weights are 4.5g and six of these make the maximum adjustment of 27 grams. The smallest weights are 1.7 grams, and you can add any number or combination of these weights to adjust the mouse to your own personal preference.

With ten programmable buttons you can easily customise the Logitech G500 to work exactly how you want.

The exact buttons are:

• Left and right buttons on the top
• Scroll wheel click down, left and right
• Two buttons on the top left that by default adjust the dpi up and down
• Three buttons on the left side

The actions of all of these buttons can be programmed using Logitech's driver software that comes with the G500.You can even record macros that perform a sequence of keypresses, so you could load up the G500's buttons with your favourite sequence of game moves.

There's one final button on top of the mouse, but this one isn't a programmable button. No, what it does is change the action of the scroll wheel from smooth scrolling to a clicky action. This means you can have a free-scrolling action in a document or web page and then switch to clicking action when you're playing games so that you don't accidentally scroll through your entire weapon list in one go.
