Logo Designer Works Towards Seizure Alert Dog

After 49 years of living with shaking fits, visual problems, strange tics and twitches, I was finally tested when I had a grand mal seizure and diagnosed with a Cavernous Angioma of the right temporal lobe. This turns out to be the "familial" type and in 1959, I was born with it, as could any of my offspring or their children.

While I do have family and we are very close, there are many times when I might be alone and it's during these times that I would like to have a companion to watch over me just in case.

I had a small chihuahua/mini dachshund mix for 15 years until she passed away a few years ago, leaving me with an enormous void in my life. Although I wasn't aware of the ticking time bomb in my brain before she died, I always thought it was so sweet when she would go absolutely everywhere I went (including the bathroom) and watched me like a hawk. She would also spend hours on end laying her muzzle across my face as if she were hugging me and telling me she was there for me.

Now, after doing a lot of research online about my affliction, I have found that many dogs are able to sense an oncoming seizure and can alert you as well as alert others close by. They can also dial 911 if trained to do so. This is when it dawned on me that my 15 year companionship with my little mix breed was more than I thought it was. I now know why she was so intent on watching me every second and why she seemed to be in tune with me at all times. Apparently, my little Sheba was much more than just a furry friend, she was my angel in a dog suit.

I can remember many times through the years when I still had her with me that I felt really bad, but I wasn't aware of the CA yet. During those times I would normally go to my bedroom and lay on my bed and watch TV or do some crafting. Anything to get my mind off of the way I felt. I'd shake and twitch, smell odd odors like something was burning coming from nowhere, see auras stretching across my eyesight and a myriad of many other odd sensations like paranoia that were very unpleasant. And there was little Sheba, sitting right next to me. And even though I wasn't exactly sure why she always stayed with me when I felt that way, I know now that if it wasn't for her calming effect on me, I could have had many full blown grand mals.

This is why I am currently working towards purchasing a Golden Retriever pup to eventually have trained as an assistance dog. I need that secure feeling again to help me through lifes speed bumps and cruel happenings.

I do have an album called "Phantom Muse" up for sale on iTunes, Amazon and several other places, but anyone that has gone down the "indie artist" path knows that the money doesn't come pouring in quickly.

So, the reason I am making logos for companies and websites in order to buy this dog is simple. Money doesn't stretch that far when you have a large family, and we do have a LARGE family. As much as I would love to put some aside every payday for my dog, I simply cannot take away from the family. So, I have decided to earn as much as I can through making logos on top of what I make through album sales. I enjoy creating logos and working with people, so it's a terrific avenue for me to take in the direction of getting my dog. Designing is another great stress release for me as well as creating music. It keeps my mind active so anything intrusive won't easily get to me and set off another seizure. Don't get me wrong, not all of my seizures are grand mals. Most are absence seizures (this is where I don't appear to be "all there" even though I can hear everything around me), sometimes my eyes will flutter back and forth, making it hard to see where I am going, some are what I call "twitch-fests" where my body has fun with my extremities by making them flail around inadvertently, sometimes causing me to throw a drink that I JUST poured across the room. I just never know what will happen, so it's a bit of an uncomfortable feeling to go day by day with.

So, it is with great expectation and hope that I begin my journey of making money through logo design to eventually buy the dog that could possibly save my life. I sincerely look forward to working with anyone who is seeking a great unique logo for whatever purpose they may have. I do charge half up front due to past bad experiences with clients that used me for several days on end and never paid up for the end product, so I hope that isn't a problem.

My fee's are as follows:

$50.00 for the first 3 concepts, paid up front.

$100.00 for each additional "new" concept after the first 3 or "revision" of first concept, paid before additional work is done.

Seizure Alert or Seizure Response?

A serious decision

I have heard many great stories of both types of canine assistance dogs and have often wondered which I should work at attaining.

On one hand we have the seizure alert dogs of whom have the uncanny knack for sensing an oncoming seizure and telling the owner either by barking or nudging them. This can be a great help in making sure you are in a safe place away from anything that could hurt you when it happens.

On the other hand we have the seizure response dogs of whom take care of you after the seizure has already begun. The dog can run to alert other people close by of what happened by barking and pulling them to you. They can stay by your side to help keep you relaxed during the seizure as well as even dial 911 if it has been formally trained to do so.

So now I have the task of deciding which of the two would be the best bet for me personally.

The idea of a dog living with me that can sense the seizures before they happen, although a great talent, might make me feel a bit anxious. I am by nature a nervous sort of person. I think that maybe if I had a dog that could sense my seizures before they happened, I might freak out whenever the dog acted irratically in some way. I'd be more in tune with what it was there for and the possibility of seeing it "alerting" might make the looming seizure inevitable.

Now the seizure response dogs might still have the innate ability to sense seizures, but they aren't trained to do so in any way shape or form. They are trained to help you after the fact. Now some folks might say "well I'd like to know beforehand so I can lay down and not fall to the floor", but others might feel as I do, and would be more comfortable knowing that while the dog won't tell me I am going to have one soon, it will be there for me during and after for comfort and help.

Seizure Alert Dogs

Seizure Alert dogs can help a seizure vitims in many ways. They can call 911, stay by your side to relax you, get help from others close by, and even let you know up to an hour before your seizure occurs. These dogs are life savers and anyone having a seizure problem should have one.

My Album "Phantom Muse"

Buy a few tracks and help out a lot!

The tracks below are from my album Phantom Muse.
The album is for sale on Amazon, iTunes and in many other stores. I am hoping that people will buy either the album or a few tracks to help add to my "logo design earnings" so I can quickly get my Golden Retriever pup. This pup will be trained as a Seizure Alert Dog to help watch over me and alert me of an oncoming seizure. This is very important to me and my family.

Please help me to finally get my dog and to feel more relaxed.
I'd like to thank anyone who buys any of my tracks in advance. God Bless. :)

Conquering Spirit

Conquering Spirit was created in honor of all strong women in the world.

The First Strike

I created this song in honor of the 241 fallen servicemen of the 1983 Beirut Bombing.

Blockade Runner

This song was created for my husband who was a sailor in the US Navy.

Perfect Day

I created "Perfect Day" when I was in a really chipper mood. :)

Earthrise

"Earthrise" was written with intent to relax and calm the soul.

Imagination

Imagination was created while thinking about my children and grandchildren while playing and toddling about.

Tainted Music Box

"Tainted Music Box" is one of my personal favorites in that it reminds me of a macabre version of a tiny ballerina dancing inside of a music box.

Guitar Love

This song is very relaxing and shows my love for the acoustics of a guitar.

Child of the Chippewa

I created this song after finding out that my family is not only Swedish on my fathers side, but is in direct line with Pocahontas on my mothers side. The reason I chose the Chippewa tribe is because at the time I wrote this, we lived in Chippewa County, Michigan.

Cityscapes

Cityscapes was created while watching a traffic jam in the city on the news. This is how it made me feel.

Wretched Brain

Inside my head

Wretched brain inside my head, causing me pain while waiting for death.

Cursed with defects to live with each day, whilst watching my friends as their lives go astray.

My strength grows weary, covering my pain, as my family insists I have nothing to gain.

My mind has been altered, my future has changed. I was meant to be different, but never this strange.

As I listen to stories of fits I have thrown, my body convulsing, my mind not my own.

Born into pain, never quite sure, my brain is an outcast, having no cure.

Donations

We work as a go-between to help move Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes out of kill shelters and into reputable, established rescue organizations. We assist shelters and the larger established rescue organizations with their adoption processes

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to Golden Friends Rescue from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.

    Hi Becky,

I am so sorry for the loss of your dog and for your illness! Such a sorrowful story. You should create a few more lens and link them to this one.

    1. One for your logo design business
    2. One just for your wonderful music business
    3. One about your husbands journey in Beirut
    4. And anything else you can think of. (Grin)

Anyway, 5 stars for your lens! I will bookmark this lens for you - hopefully it will help more people find you. I have added you to my faves so that we can keep track of each other and I have joined your fan club.

Oh, BTW thanks for visiting my "Dog's Eating Chocolate" lens. I added another text module in response to the comment you left. There wasn't enough room to respond in the guestbook. LOL.

My warmest aloha to you Becky,
